About our Country Program

Relief International was operational in oPt starting in 2007, and after entering hibernation period in 2017, has recently reactivated its operations at the end of 2023.  Relief International is currently building its response to the current and evolving situation in both Gaza and the West Bank through both a direct implementation and partnership approach. Relief International’s programming in oPt follows Relief International’s global strategy with Health as a central focus with components linked to our work in Health through the sectors of WASH, Protection, Education and Livelihoods. The context in oPt is extremely dynamic and requires focus on nexus programming that brings together both humanitarian service delivery combined with systems strengthening and longer-term programming. Navigating complex regulatory and access challenges to reach populations in need in both Gaza and West Bank will be a key area of focus for the Supply Chain Operations coordinator.

Middle East Region

Job Profile

The Pharmacist is a key technical expert and quality assurance champion, ensuring the safe and effective management of pharmaceutical in Gaza,

Your role will be to oversee all aspects of pharmaceutical management, from support in the procurement and storage to distribution and ensuring compliance with donor regulations and local health department recommendations. You will act as a liaison between Supply Chain, partner health technical staff, and the program Unit, ensuring seamless coordination and collaboration.

Key responsibilities

Accountability and Complexity

  • Address challenges related to pharmaceutical storage quality, availability, and distribution, ensuring timely and appropriate solutions.
  • Act as a bridge between different teams and stakeholders, fostering effective communication and collaboration to ensure the smooth flow of pharmaceutical management.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the quality of drugs ordered for oPt, verifying compliance with RI and donor requirements.
  • Confirm that received drugs match ordered items and are suitable for use.
  • Monitor and maintain proper storage and transportation conditions to preserve drug quality.
  • Provide technical support to health staff on pharmaceutical management, dispensing, and good storage/distribution practices. Conduct staff training as needed for partners,
  • Act as the referent for pharmaceutical management and dispensing, overseeing all stages of the medicine supply chain. Supervise stock/pharmacy management in end-user units through the partners’ HF Pharmacist.
  • Gather and analyze stock indicators, communicate findings to the secondary Health Coordinator, and collaborate on decisions regarding stock levels, replenishment, and disposal of expired products.
  • Analyze drug consumption patterns in relation to established protocols and project medical activities.
  • Contribute to medical orders by drafting initial orders, reviewing stock replenishment parameters, and finalizing orders based on consumption and projected needs.
  • Serve as the primary contact for the supply team on all matters related to medical stock management at both coordination and project levels.
  • Ensure adherence to Good Storage and Distribution Practices (GSDP) throughout the pharmaceutical supply chain.
  • Raise awareness and provide training to the supply team on the specific handling requirements of medical items, including quality, sensitivity, storage conditions, and preparation techniques.
  • Conduct regular audits of GDP compliance, including warehouse layout, storage conditions, product arrangement, reception, distribution, and transport. Collaborate with the Supply Coordinator/Manager to implement recommendations.
  • Provide specific directives and participate in stock reception and physical stock counts as needed.
  • Train staff and ensure that Good dispensing practices (GDP) is followed.
  • Ensure that each item used in the project is part of Medical standard list and medical standard list is updated regularly.
  • Ensure timely reporting and its analysis.

  • Fluency in Arabic and English are mandatory
  • Mature with strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work and report independently
  • Excellent communication and diplomatic skills
  • Good organization and management skills
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Skilled in coaching, training and supervising pharmaceutical/drug dispensing staff
