Background Information - Jerusalem
The UNOPS Jerusalem office opened in 2006 and now has sub-offices in East Jerusalem, Ramallah and Jericho. The portfolio includes infrastructure, procurement, human resources, capacity building, access coordination and security projects for partners and beneficiaries throughout the occupied Palestinian territory.
Background Information - Job-specific
Under the overall management of the PC Director, with the daily supervision of the Project Manager that requests the services under the retainer contract, the photographer provides high quality still photography services. The photographer demonstrates a client-oriented approach, tact and ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. The photographer ensures effective and efficient provision of services, full confidentiality in all aspects of assignment, management of information flow and follow-up on deadlines and commitments made.
Functional Responsibilities
Capture high resolution images of project progress, achievements, individuals, groups, events at field locations related to the implementation of the UNOPS activities and projects. Caption each photograph with specific details such as geographical location, name of the person (for portraits), activity and any other relevant information, for easy identification and location.
Capture and provide high quality and high resolution images of events, missions, including projects where UNOPS is implementing its activities. The photographer will be required to have his/her own equipment and be available for travel immediately as needed to the area where UNOPS Jerusalem Project Centre operates within the oPt in order to cover various project progress or achievements, events and topics. The contractor is responsible for the transportation and logistical arrangements, UNOPS will provide support when necessary.
Captions should be embedded in the jpeg images and also provided in a separate text document.
Specific requirements for photos:
-Colour and Black and White;
-In electronic form on CD or flash-card;
-Format of electronic pictures: JPEG, maximum TIFF, BMP, PNG;
-Colours: minimum RGB, maximum CMYK;
-Resolution: high (minimum 300 dpi scale up to A1 size) that will be of an internationally acceptable standard;
-Pixel dimension: 1600x900 px

Education/Experience/Language requirements
a-Education
-Bachelor Degree in communications, journalism, arts, media or other related areas. Additional years of relevant work experience, in combination with formal training in photography, may substitute for the requirement of bachelor’s degree.
-Formal training in still photography
b-Work Experience
-At least three (3) years work experience in photography in social/development area with an international organization;
-Proven ability in photography and ability to assimilate and communicate complex visual messages in an engaging and user-friendly manner;
c-Language Requirements:
-Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
d-Other Skills Required:
-Advanced knowledge and skills of MS Office, including Adobe Photoshop and other editing tools Photoshop is required.
-Knowledge and understanding of the development sector;
-Previous experience of working with UN agencies, NGOs and INGOs is highly desirable.
-Availability, willingness and ability to travel to all areas within Jerusalem and the oPt;
-Ability to work in close coordination with other team members
