THE JOB

Based in Gaza, under the direct supervision and responsibility of the Rehabilitation Projects Coordinator, the Physical Rehabilitation Officer will be responsible for the implementation, progress monitoring, quality control  of HI & partners’ organizations physical rehabilitation intervention within “Post-emergency intervention to provide essential multi-disciplinary rehabilitation services to the most vulnerable women, men and children in Gaza “project implemented by Handicap International and partner organizations and funded by DFATD.

 

The action: Through the project “Post-emergency intervention to provide essential multi-disciplinary rehabilitation services to the most vulnerable women, men and children in Gaza .”, HI has for global objective that affected persons with injuries and persons with disabilities during the last crisis will have access to post emergency multidisciplinary quality rehabilitation services , as well to ensure HI  and partners have updated their emergency response plan to meet the needs of vulnerable groups and based on the lessons learnt from the response launched last summer.

           

HI and in partnership with four partners across the Gaza Strip five governorates (Baitona Society, PACF, NSR, SPHP) will work together within this project in order to:

Reinforce of partners’ capacity to meet quality criteria

Provide home-based functional rehabilitation & psychosocial support services to PwIs and PwDs as per their individual identified needs

Train families of PWIs and PWDs on basic home based rehabilitation and follow up exercises

Procure specific assistive devices and distribution to PWIs and PWDs

Provide ongoing technical support and trainings to partners' outreach teams

Identify and provide of support to PWIs for home accessibility adjustments

Identify the lessons learnt from the emergency response with key stakeholders

Mobilize DPO leaders and cuild their capacity to join information and capacity building towards humanitarian actors on disability inclusion

Develop a training manual to include PWDs needs and demands into recovery effort

Provide disability inclusion information and induction training to humanitarian workers

Provision of ad-hoc support upon request to humanitarian actors to mainstream disability into their recovery response

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.     SUPPORT TO PARTNERS OUTREACH TEAMS:

-       Contribute to the revision and improving of the services criteria and the quality criteria of services.

-       Train and support partners’ physiotherapists in applying the HI and partners agreed on quality criteria in their intervention with PwDs/PwIs.

-       Follow-up and monitor the activities /services provided by the partners’ physiotherapists in line with the identified services criteria, and coach their performance to be user centered approach. 

-       Coordinate with the appropriate team members to ensure partners’ teams are receiving the required support to identify target beneficiaries and their families, assess their needs and to ensure these means are provided; organize and implement trainings when required.

-       Participate to conducting a multidisciplinary training needs assessment to the partners’ outreach team members (methodology, tools development, data collection, analysis and reporting).

-       Implement monthly technical trainings, in particular in the physical therapy areas.

-       Conduct regular field support visits and on the job trainings to partners’ physiotherapists in the five governorates.

-       Assist the project team in developing strategies to ensure that outreach teams are promoting a holistic approach when working with PwDs, PwIs and their families.

-       Ensure partners teams understanding to the Physio-Tools Modules and are sharing resources as needed with families and caregivers.

-       Contribute to the development of training materials and family education tools on physical and functional rehabilitation exercises.

-       In coordination with the TO, provide guidance to partners teams in the identification of PwDs/PwIs needs for assistive devices, home adaptations.

-       Ensure all services are provided in a professional and ethical manner.

 

 

2.     REPORTING:

 

-       Collaborate with the PO and project team members to ensure coordinated implementation of activities in all locations.

-       Support the partners outreach teams members to correctly complete all documentation (assessment forms, family training plan, follow up forms, M&E tools).

-       Write regular activity and progress reports and submit to the RPC.

-       Apply project M&E tools with partners’ teams and beneficiaries of services as planned, report to RPC on quarterly basis.

-       Use various communication means (written, spoken, etc) during activities to ensure effective inclusion of all participants.

-       Maintain a positive image of Handicap International and the partner organizations at all times and in all circumstances.

·         to develop relevant tools and messages, adapted to the issue within the community

 

DURATION OF CONTRACT:

The duration of contract is initially for 12 months , full time position, with posiibility of extension.

 

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

Will have

  • At least 5 years professional experience working in the Physical Therapy (preferable with trauma management experience), of which 3 years at least working with an International Organization.
  • At least a bachelor degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Proven previous on the job supervision experience.
  • Professional and very positive interpersonal attitude.
  • The position is based in Gaza with field supervision tasks to partners’ teams across the Gaza Strip. 
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Flexibility, ability to take initiative.
  • Good organizational skills/ Proactive.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • High level written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Ability to transfer knowledge, train people, act as a coach.
