The Representative Office in Ramallah is seeking to hire a qualified candidate for the position of
Political/ Trade Assistant and Programming Coordinator.
This will be a permanent position, working 37.5 hrs / week.

Position Title: Political / Trade Assistant and Programming Coordinator
Classification: LE-06
Section: Political / Trade

Employment: Indeterminate Position
Eligibility: Open to external applicants residing in Ramallah and to all mission’s employees occupying an indeterminate or term position who meet all of the essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date. Applicants must have a valid work permit.

Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with a major in a discipline related to the job requirements (e.g. international relations, business administration, international trade)

Language: Fluency in Arabic and in English, both written and spoken

Experience:

-Recent experience* in government, an international organization or in international business and trade
-Recent experience in working in an office and following standard office procedures
-Recent experience in working with a range of computer applications
    
*Recent is defined within the last 5 years

Health: Good health.

Job summary:

Under the First Secretary (Political/Trade), the Political/Trade Assistant and Programming Coordinator provides daily administrative support and services to the Political/Trade section; provides primary administrative management support to the section’s programming activities in international business development, education promotion, public affairs and Francophonie, by helping establish and maintain networks of contacts, understanding local context and trends, helping respond to client queries, helping organize projects and events, maintaining databases, participating in trade and education exhibitions, and helping monitor and report on projects and activities; provides research support on political, economic and trade developments in the West Bank and Gaza; supports communications for the Political/Trade section, including maintaining the mission website; supports logistics arrangements for official visits from Canada; and performs other duties as required.

-General knowledge of International affairs and trade
-General knowledge of Canadian trade and political interests

-Ability to speak, read and write in English and Arabic

Working conditions
-The candidate may be required to work overtime

Asset qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications
-Previous experience in a Government or Public Sector environment
-Master’s degree in a discipline related to the job requirements
-Excellent knowledge of French
-Recent experience in special event coordination
-Experience working with project management processes, such as processing funding proposals, financial reporting, coordination with partner organizations

Conditions of employment:

A valid work permit

The appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to Medical Clearance and Reliability Status Check (RS) obtained by Management.  To conduct the Reliability Status Check (RS), the candidate must submit the following documents on being selected by the Mission.
-Police clearance certificate / Criminal records;
-Letter of recognition from your bank stating your name, years of client service and your address.
-Professional and educational mark sheets and certificates;
-Passport;
-Certificate of Canadian Citizenship (if applicable);
-Birth Certificate;
-4 x Passport photos;
-Letter(s) of reference;
-School certificate.
