Program Advisor

GIZ has been commissioned by the German Government to implement the
“Ziviler Friedensdient (ZFD) / Civil Peace Service (CPS)” to support the program team
“Program Advisor“
In close collaboration with the international program advisor, the expert will support and offer advice to strengthen the institutional and professional capacities of GIZ – CPS partner organisations from civil society. Integral part of job assignments will be to support partner organizations in developing and implementing strategies in local and international advocacy.
Responsibilities and tasks include but are not limited to:
-advise and oversee the implementation of relevant OD interventions and processes in line with programme partners‘ demand
-Give demand driven advice to partner organizations covering all aspects of organizational development ( strategic planning, developing human resources policies, project management including designing PM&E systems, resource development and fundraising including proposal writing, result based monitoring and evaluation, organisational governance);
-Capacity development for employees of partner organizations trough systematic training and coaching
-Supports in strengthening capacities in advocacy towards national and international organizations increasing the awareness of the respective life and work situation of our partners and their beneficiaries;
-Assists in various approaches to sustainability of our partner organizations.
-Cooperate closely with the project’s international conflict advisor (counterpart);
-Assist in any other related tasks.
Required qualifications:
-Minimum of 5 years of relevant proven experience as a consultant or working in a relevant position with an International or National NGO.
-Theoretical and practical knowledge in advocacy and civil conflict management
-Good network with diverse NGOs (within civil society) in Palestine.
-Fluent in Arabic and English.
-Excellent computer and communication skills.
-Assertive personality
-Capable of demonstrating to work under stressful conditions, self-initiator, flexible and able to work with people of different backgrounds (team oriented), service oriented, friendly personality, well organised and motivated, capable of meeting deadlines
-good understanding and direct experience of best practice in leadership, organisational governance and participatory approaches
-skills and experience in fundraising are an asset
-Experience in designing and deliver trainings as an asset
Assignment:
Starting 1st of March 2015. 12 months contract with possible extension.
