Chemonics International Inc., a leader in global development, seeks full time Program Assistant for its USAID-funded Enhanced Palestinian Justice Program (EPJP) in Al-Bireh.
Position Objectives, Basic Functions/Critical Tasks:
The Program Assistant will work under the direction of the Family Court/ Gender Team Leader to fulfill the project objectives of enabling targeted family courts to become more responsive to the public and to enhance satisfaction among court users with the efficiency of court processes and services. S/he will support component two activities from a project management perspective, while also providing technical expertise as a program assistant.
Specific tasks will include:
-Support the Family Court/ Gender team leader in identifying initiatives to help the Family Courts build administrative and financial capacities.
-Support the development of a business process analysis for designated courts/counterparts to understand how these courts/offices can improve the quality and efficiency of their services.
-Assist in the design of interventions to address the delivery and efficiency of justice sector institutions identified in the business process analyses
-Assist in development of an action plan for efficiently addressing the weaknesses and prioritizing the interventions for discussion with USAID and counterparts
-Provide project management and technical support including, but not to be limited to, support for improvements in management and administration systems, acquisition of furniture and equipment; development and implementation of workshops, conferences, capacity building activities, and other project activities.
-Provide relevant advice and support for the design and development of family court renovations and rehabilitation.
-Work with Family Court/ Gender team Leader to coordinate and manage training for judges, court staff, and other legal professionals.
-Work with Monitoring and Evaluation/Reporting specialists to provide input for regular and ad hoc reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual), annual work plans and other written communications.
-Coordinate, organize, and implement workshops, conferences and study tours as required.
-Develop and maintain good working relationships with counterparts and other international donors working with the justice sector.
-Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Education, Qualifications and/or Equivalent Experience:
-Minimum of BA degree in relevant field.
-A minimum of 5 years of experience in a relevant field
-Experience in coordination, organization, and implementation workshops / conferences.
-Strong communication and reporting skills.
-Ability to undertake field visits in West Bank and interact with different stakeholders.
-Ability to work in a team setting.
-Good command of Arabic and English language skills
-Ability to multitask and deal with stressful situations.
-Previous work on USAID or other donor-funded projects highly preferred.
-Previous work with family court or family law issues preferred.
