Position Title: Program Coordinator (Communities)

Location: Ramallah

Position Status: Full-time, Regular

Duration: One-Year, with possibility of extension.

Program name: Positive Youth Engagement (PYE)

About the Program

Positive Youth Engagement (PYE) is a seven-year multi-sectoral Youth Activity designed to address the core issues of Palestinian youth development. The PYE activity will reach vulnerable and marginalized youth aged 10-24 at risk of social marginalization in deprived areas and private universities where they live by improving education, health, employment, community involvement (reintegration), and other needs as identified through drivers' assessments. The activity’s goal is to transform vulnerable youth into productive, contributing citizens who are connected to their communities by increasing opportunities for Palestinian youth to realize their potential and to effectively contribute to social and economic development. The following are the main themes of the PYE:

  • Core programming that supports, protects, prepares, and engages youth in safe spaces found within a strong network of more than 80 CBOs throughout the West Bank.
  • Tailored packages of activities, resources, and referrals that will set youth on individually selected pathways building on the core curriculum to increase opportunities for youth to effectively contribute to social and economic development.
  • Opportunities for sustained community engagement and leadership through youth-led pathways and councils, community and social media campaigns, and mentorship of subsequent cohorts as part of sustainable community youth networks.
  • Improve opportunities for learning and individual empowerment for youth in grades 7-12 through the network of safe spaces.
  • Expand safe spaces through 11 local university career centers to reach youth ages 19-24 and offer the PYE core interventions including the Profound Stress and Attunement (PSA) approach and healthy well-being for youth, parents, and adult caretakers; learning activities (including the Passport To Success (PTS) and I: SERVE), youth pathways; and youth-led small-scale initiatives in addition to technology and innovation-driven learning programs with a focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics), green solutions, and entrepreneurship.

  About the Position

The Program Coordinator will provide programmatic and administrative support for the PYE team and network of local partners and safe spaces. She/ he will engage with other youth as a mobilizer and mentor on key initiatives of the program under the learning component for the targeted communities including Life Skills, Civic Engagement, Youth Led Initiatives and Leadership. She/ he will assist in following up on various interventions, providing programmatic, administrative, and procurement support. In addition, the Program Coordinator will assist in information gathering and reporting, conducting field visits to targeted national partners and safe spaces. The position will work closely with PYE Program Specialist and Technical Advisor to ensure effective and efficient implementation of related activities.

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Liaise with national partners and safe spaces on the design and implementation of the learning activities and the youth-led initiatives with providing programmatic and administrative support for the implementation of ToTs and youth training targeting partners and safe spaces.
  • Manage the day-to-day program partnerships and implementation of the core Learning programmatic activities including training and coaching on Passport to Success (Life Skills) and I-SERVE (Civic Engagement) curricula, and collecting and analyzing program data to measure progress toward program targets and objectives.
  • Draft and edit program reports with evidence-based resources and data.
  • Coordinate closely with other PYE staff to ensure accuracy and coherence between programmatic and financial reports.
  • Maintain updated program information, data and records on PYE and IYF knowledge management platforms that aggregate program performance and impact.
  • Complete other duties as assigned (outside of CORE Responsibilities).

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in social sciences, education, business administration, Youth development, or related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience working with civil society actors engaged in youth development in Palestine.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of gender inclusion principles, human rights, and equitable approaches for positive youth engagement and development.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, presentation, teamwork, and analytical skills.
  • Very good written and oral English and Arabic language and communication skills with a variety of audiences including CBOs, NGOs, and the public.
  • Ability to think innovatively.
  • Strong ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure under pressure, prioritize work, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to details.
  • Excellent skills using technology and computer software, including but not limited to, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
