AMIDEAST is an international, non-profit, education organization with offices throughout the Middle East and North Africa, including in the West Bank and Gaza. AMIDEAST implements the USAID-funded School Support Program that extends currently through August 31, 2018. The primary goal of the program is to improve the quality of education in 50 marginalized public schools in the West Bank. Program objectives include improving the educational environment in schools, enhancing community engagement, and strengthening students’ social competencies.
Summary of Duties
AMIDEAST is seeking a Program Officer (PO) to support its Results-Based Benchmarking (RBB) initiative within the School Support Project (SSP). The RBB PO position will be physically based at SSP’s offices in Ramallah and includes extensive travel to all 50 project schools. The PO will offer direct support to the RBB Manager especially in the working with a team of up to 18 School Improvement Facilitators drawn from local District Leadership Teams. The PO will be specifically responsible for coordination of action between all School Improvement stakeholders and activities in all project schools.
Overall Responsibilities
-Under RBB Manager’s guidance, facilitate coordination of all project activities related to effective and efficient design and implementation of all RBB activities at the school level.
-Assist RBB Manager as may be required when working with School Improvement Facilitators (SIFs)
-Consult and coordinate closely with other project colleagues, especially other District professionals.
-Contribute to materials development, reports and other documents as may be required by Manager.
-Facilitate and support training as may be required.
-Take part in regular and extensive field visits with Manager to all 50 project schools in support of implementation and in a proactive capacity building perspective.
-Perform any other RBB-related duties as may be required by the Manager.
Minimum Qualifications and Required Skills:
-Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related social science field, Master’s degree in Education preferred.
-Good knowledge and understanding of 21st century best educational practice.
-Good knowledge and understanding of Palestinian public schools context.
-Conversant with the use of technology, including Microsoft office software and other electronic communication devices.
-Evidence of creativity, motivation and personal drive.
-Professional fluency in Arabic & English required.
-(4-5) years proven work experience in related field with competencies in administration and organization.
-Valid driving license.
