The role
Focusing on economic development, public health and food security, you’ll help to shape and implement our high-performing £15 million programme in Gaza. Specifically, you’ll look at the design and implementation of our programme, working with project managers to develop policies and objectives and to support effective delivery. We’ll also expect you to longer-term strategic relationships in Palestine with a range of actors including private sector, donors and local civil society. Inevitably, the problems here are diverse, complex and never routine, so you’ll need to constantly monitor and evaluate our programmes to ensure they have the right impact and that we learn from our operations. In addition, you can expect all the essential programme management responsibilities, from budgets and expenditure through to recruitment and staff training and development. You’ll play a lead role in raising programme standards throughout the Gaza programme with a particular focus on gender, accountability, partnerships and monitoring, evaluation and learning. In short, you’ll make sure our work lives up to the high standards that our beneficiaries and donors deserve and expect.
What we’re looking for
Coming to us with considerable experience of programme management and leadership within a local or international NGO or international organisation, you’ll have a good understanding of linking humanitarian, development and policy issues ideally in similarly complex context. You will be particularly strong in your ability to support others develop the programme quality components associated with the role. Just as important as your knowledge and experience, however, will be the personal qualities you bring to the role. Flexible, ambitious, creative and determined, you’ll know how to bring out the best in people and draw maximum value from a considerable budget. A strong decision maker and a confident communicator, you’ll be comfortable presenting to a wide range of audiences, including government, UN, donors, and staff. Above all, you’ll be an inspirational leader who can challenge, motivate and develop teams. And, of course, you’ll have a genuine passion for the work we do.
