THE ORGANIZATION
Handicap International is an international organization. Non-governmental, non-religious, non-political and non-profit making, it works alongside people with disabilities, whatever the context, offering them assistance and supporting them in their efforts to become self-reliant. Since its creation, the organization has set up programmers in approximately 60 countries and intervened in many emergency situations.
The Action:
Given the critical isolation and marginalization of Persons with disability in oPt due to their unmet needs and exclusion from mainstream services; Handicap International has signed two partnership agreements with Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation BASR, and Palestinian Medical Relief Society PMRS who have created three rehabilitation mobile teams in the West Bank for the first time. The aim is to improve the access of PwDs to essential services in "c" areas in West bank. This is through providing home based rehabilitation services, mobility assistive devices, and disposable health care kits, physical adaptation to health care centers, capacity building and awareness raising programs as well as supporting the development of the existing referral systems.
Specific Objective of the Action: Persons with disabilities in West Bank have a greater access to services that respond more effectively to their acute needs.
- Home based rehabilitation services respond to the needs of women, men and children with disabilities and their families, in 6 targeted governorates of the West Bank.
- Other essential services are more accessible for PwDs and their families in targeted areas of the West Bank
Objectives of the Position:
Under the responsibility of the Project Manager, the Project Assistant will assist in the implementation of all projects related activities
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibility 1: Support overall Project implementation and coordination:
- Support the PM to ensure activities are Implemented in order to achieve the expected results
- Support the PM in implementing workshops, trainings, meetings and other project activities, and keep records of these events.
- Support the PM in preparing all purchase requests for consumables and liaise with support services to ensure timely purchases.
- Assist the PM in reviewing project action plan and in gathering/collecting information for financial follow-up
- Support in conducting the coordination meetings with the partners: project coordinator, focal points, or any relevant institution or individuals.
- Regular field visits with the PM and/or the partner.
Responsibility 2: Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting:
- Support the PM in follow up qualitative and quantitative indicators
- Support the partners in the data base update and monitoring of data gathering and analysis.
- Assist the PM in regular follow up, and review on partners monthly statistical and narrative reports.
- Assist the PM in preparing a monthly internal report on the project progress.
- Assist the PM in writing reports according to schedule and requirements set in the donor(s) contract(s).
- Support the PM in monthly updates for the HI internal newsletters.
- Assist the PM to facilitate project capitalization and ensure that good practices under the project are identified
- Ensure all documents are filed based on list of all documents/tools produced under the project
Other Tasks Required:
-Represent HI in workshops and meetings when requested by PM, and report on it to his/her line manager Support PM in developing network among disability stakeholders
-Contribute to have better knowledge and understanding on disability issues in West Bank through regular need assessment, stakeholders mapping and regular update to PM.
DURATION OF CONTRACT:
The duration of contract is for 8 months, full time position; expected starting date: 01 May 2016
Education and Experience:
-Bachelor Degree in Development studies or Social fields (Sociology, Social Sciences, protection).
-At least 3 years’ experience in project implementation with INGOs preferably in the disability field.
