Project Coordinator
Position Title: Project Coordinator.
Position Type: Regular, Full Time.
Location: Madarat Center, Nablus.
Duration: 6 Months
Expected Starting Date: 1 October, 2023
Madarat Center, is implementing the Project titled, “Raising participation, citizenship and integration of women and youth in the civic public life: EDMAAJ”. EDMAAJ will be implemented through a grant provided by the USAID-funded Active Citizenry Activity (ACA). ACA aims to increase citizens’ participation in civic life and support their efforts to advocate for positive changes, foster social and political advancement, and improve overall living conditions and prosperity. ACA will support the civil society sector, Palestinian citizens, media organizations, and other relevant stakeholders to become more active in civic life, decision making and advocacy for citizens’ rights and demands. ACA is being implemented by Global Communities.
EDMAAJ aims to raise participation, citizenship and integration of women and youth in the civic public life in Nablus, Tulkarem, and Jenin over 9 months starting from first of August 2023. This will be achieved through enhancing their societal roles, their citizenship, and their participation in public civil life by engaging them in specific activities aimed at providing them with the necessary concepts, knowledge, skills, abilities, and training in issues of citizenship, civil society participation, awareness-raising, advocacy, and combating hate speech and bullying. And then transforming these skills and knowledge into effective and sustainable community practices that are implemented in the form of pre-planned activities within the project and productive field community initiatives innovated by the targeted participants themselves, which will have a sustainable impact that includes the integration and targeting of other additional societal groups, especially the marginalized ones, to achieve broader objectives of the project and maximize its impact.
MADARAT is a non-governmental non-profit civil society organization that specializes in the field of sustainable development civic programs; targeting particularly women and youth, according to the most urgent priorities and needs, in addition to a modern consistent value system that adherence to the standards of governance, principles of equality, and transparency.
Since its establishment in April 2017, MADARAT Center executed many programs and activities that are meeting with its establishment objectives and mission, and the success in conducting these programs gave MADARAT Center through its professional team and practical good-governance polices the high capacity and deep experiences to implement effective activities.
Madarat aims at enhancing youth and women civic participation and responsibility in the Palestinian society; we provide youth and women with capacity building opportunities, qualifying and encouraging them to give back to the society. We also encourage and work on youth and women in developing their communities by giving them the chance to lead and have a strong voice in community initiatives. Moreover, we organize social events that activate the role of youth and women in democratic and civic participation, as well as enable youth and women and prepare them to represent Palestine locally and internationally.
General Position Summary:
The Project Coordinator will provide programmatic, field work and administrative support to the project team and stakeholders. He/She will work closely with the Project Manager and global communities coordinator on all aspects of the program and provide effective and efficient support to ensure smooth implementation. The Project Coordinator will assist in organizing and following up on various interventions, providing programmatic, administrative, and procurement support. In addition, the Project Coordinator will support in information gathering and reporting. He/She will also follow up with the finance department on preparing and submitting financial supporting documents and payment requests according to stated requirements and guidelines.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Support the Project Manager in the planning and set up of activities, including engagement with relevant partners and other key stakeholders.
- Support in organizing training sessions, workshops, and field visits as required.
- Conduct sound coordination, implementation, and monitoring of field work activities of the project, and ensure implementation schedules are met as per the detailed implementation plan, while maintaining adherence to project and Global Communities/USAID regulations
- Participate in implementing the project with effective day to day monitoring of its activities.
- Provide any required support to the local partners when planning and implementing program activities.
- Manage the preparation of the regular technical reports related to the progress of the program activities.
- Facilitate field visits for all stakeholders as required.
- Manage the translation of success stories, documents, and official letters from English to Arabic and vice versa as required.
- Maintain and build strong relations with local partner organizations and institutions, including private sector, -educational, and public-sector partners
- Collect, analyze and report on projects activities to senior management at the club and USAID.
- Support, lead, motivate and inspire other team members.
- Any other duties as assigned by Project Manager.
Accountability:
Reports Directly To: Project Manager.
Works Directly With: Project Manager, other project team members, experts and trainers, and other stakeholders.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant professional experience in a comparable position.
- Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Information Management, English Literature and Translation, Accounting, Finance, Development Studies or any other related field. (or equivalent combination of formal training and experience e.g. in marketing, economics, management, business development or etc.).
- Good experience in working with youth projects or youth related development projects.
- Previous experience in designing and delivering trainings and coaching on civic participation, minimum 1 year.
- Very Good written skills in Arabic language and communication skills with a variety of audiences including businesses, other NGOs, government entities, the general public and the media.
- Experience working in West Bank or Gaza, and existing professional networks within organizations and civil society actors engaged in youth development in Palestine. Previous experience with USAID projects is an added value.
- Demonstrated knowledge of gender inclusion principles, human rights, and equitable approaches for positive youth engagement and development.
- Strong interpersonal communication, presentation, teamwork, and analytical skills.
- Ability to think innovatively.
- Experience contributing to effective curriculum planning, design, adaptation and development.
- Experience in project design, project management, and training and capacity building.
- Positive and professional attitude, including ability to work well in a team setting.
- Strong ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure under pressure, prioritize work, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
- Excellent skills using technology and computer software, including but not limited to, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
