National Ebal Sports Club Commission (NESCC) is implementing a project titled: Strengthening the Capacity of the NESCC to Enhance its Role and Performance in Serving Women and Youth in the Palestinian Society. The project will be implemented through a grant provided by the USAID-funded Active Citizenry Activity (ACA). ACA aims to increase citizens’ participation in civic life and support their efforts to advocate for positive changes, foster social and political advancement, and improve overall living conditions and prosperity. ACA supports the civil society sector, Palestinian citizens, media organizations, and other relevant stakeholders to become more active in civic life, decision-making, and advocacy for citizens’ rights and demands. ACA is being implemented by Global Communities.
The project aims to enhance the capabilities of youth and women leaders within the club. It involves training them to take on leadership roles within the NESCC, preparing them for organizing events and activities. The overarching goal is to boost the participation of women and youth in the local community over an 11-month period that began November 23, 2023. This will be done through the club, highlighting their social values and citizenship, and activating their interest in civic life.
NESCC is a non-profit, non-governmental, civil society organization that has been working in society since 1959. It has focused mainly on sports activities and teams and seeks to expand and diversify its activities, targeting in particular youth, women and people with disabilities, so that they are based on the availability of community capabilities and capacity until 2019. NESCC has been making sustained efforts to broaden its activities, initiatives, and programs in alignment with its objectives, this includes completing the necessary infrastructure preparations and establishing a streamlined administrative system to facilitate these expansions. Equipping youth and women’s cadres and building their capabilities, which will enable them in the future to lead the institution, create programs and implement projects in a professional manner, and deal with them with absolute transparency and administrative and financial systems in accordance with good governance standards and policies, which accumulates their experience to become more profound and stronger.
Enhancing women’s participation is a primary goal, and as such, the NESCC has implemented this by elevating their involvement in the Board of Directors, establishing women’s teams, and integrating them in the CSO’s training structure. However, NESCC has become more confident and determined to enhance the participation of women and youth in civil life and local society. NESCC appreciates every opportunity to implement this, harnessing all the capabilities of the members to make the required social contribution in our surrounding local community, and this project will work to build the club’s capabilities to serve women and youth more in the community.
