  1. Background

Nature Palestine Society (NPS) is a Palestinian non-governmental and not-for-profit organization that was established in 2017. Its mission is to do research, protect, conserve, and educate about nature, biodiversity and environment in Palestine. It also focusses on capacity building and public awareness in the domain of environment, biodiversity, and conservation.  In addition, Nature Palestine Society (NPS) is dedicated to enhancing awareness and promoting action against the impact of Invasive Plant Species (IPS) on agricultural land and ecosystem, public health, and socio-economic status of local communities, which is the focus of the current project.

NPS is implementing a project entitled "Combating Invasive Plant Species in Palestinian Agricultural Lands, aiming to support farmers, local communities, and related CBOs to combat the spread and minimizing the threats of the IPS. This project is implemented under the umbrella of the Active Citizenry Activity (ACA) project and funded by USAID. This project focuses on advocacy activities, organizing workshops and training, and producing educational materials such as documentaries, leaflets, and brochures to improve public understanding and involvement

NPS is seeking a dedicated and skilled Project Coordinator to oversee and assist in managing the Combating Invasive Plant Species (IPS) in Palestinian Agricultural Lands (CIPSPA) project.

The contract will be for the duration of the project, ending on July 20, 2025. Please note that employment will continue only for as long as the project is active and may end upon the completion of the project.

  1. Objective of the Position

The Project Coordinator will support the planning, execution, and management of advocacy efforts, workshops, training programs, and the production of educational and informative materials related to Invasive Plant Species in Palestine. The role involves coordinating activities, liaising with stakeholders, and ensuring the smooth implementation of project components, and to support the project manager to comply with the donor’s reporting and other requirements.

  1. Key Responsibilities
  • Advocacy Support
    • Assist in developing and implementing advocacy strategies to raise awareness about Invasive Alien Plant Species.
    • Help coordinate outreach activities and campaigns to engage community leaders, farmers, and environmental groups.
    • Support the organization public events and advocacy initiatives.
  • Workshops and Trainings
    • Assist in planning and organizing workshops and training sessions on Invasive Plant Species management and its impacts.
    • Help develop and prepare training materials and content for various community segments.
    • Support the delivery of training sessions and monitor their effectiveness.
  • Educational Material Production
    • Coordinate the production of educational materials, including documentaries, leaflets, and brochures.
    • Assist work with designers, writers, and multimedia professionals to ensure content is accurate, engaging, and informative.
    • Assist in managing the distribution of educational materials to target audiences.
  • Event Coordination
    • Support the planning and execution of advocacy and education-related events.
    • Assist with logistics, including venue arrangements, equipment setup, and participant coordination.
    • Gather feedback from event participants to assess effectiveness and suggest improvements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Assist in communicating with stakeholders, including Agriculture Cooperative associations, environmental CBOs, NGOs, farmers, and community groups.
    • Support coordination efforts to ensure effective collaboration and communication with project partners.
  • Monitoring and Reporting
    • Track project activities and assist in evaluating the impact of advocacy efforts and training programs.
    • Prepare regular progress updates and reports for the Project Manager/Director.
    • Collect and analyse feedback from stakeholders and participants to assess and improve project outcomes.

  1. Qualifications
  • Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in environmental science/Engineering, Agricultural engineering, Botany/plant taxonomy, ecology, environmental education, or another related field. Relevant coursework or certification in project coordination is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in a support role related to project coordination. Field work experience related to plants in Palestine is an advantage.
  • Skills:
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with experience in coordinating events and activities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
    • Background in botany or plant taxonomy is an advantage
    • Basic proficiency in multimedia production and content creation is an extra.
    • Experience in managing logistics and administrative tasks.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic project management software.

  • Team Support: Ability to work effectively within a team and support various project activities.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong planning and coordination skills with attention to detail.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to handle a range of tasks and respond to changing project needs.
  • Background in botany or plant taxonomy is an advantage.
