Project Director
Internews is seeking a Project Director to manage the implementation of its “Supporting Civic Engagement and National Dialogue through Independent Palestinian Media” program funded by U.S Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI). The objectives of this project are to work with local civil society organizations and journalists to contribute to establishing a strong, independent media that includes a diversity of voices, supports inclusive political processes, and defends the public interest.
The project works with local civil society organizations, journalists and media to establish strong, independent media that includes a diversity of voices, supports inclusive political processes, and incorporates various media platforms for improving constructive public engagement on key issues, and stronger fact-based journalism leading toward more transparency and government accountability. The activities are designed to build and strengthen ties between media and civil society and to encourage greater civic engagement and promote vibrant national dialogue, through the media, on key issues.
Project Director Scope of Work
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
-Manage overall implementation of the project
-Coordination and communications with project partners to insure quality and timeliness of deliverables and work plan
-Coordination with partners, stations, and staff to identify training and skill gaps; makes recommendations.
-Engage and oversee relations with project partners, media stakeholders, and CSOs to strengthen implementation of the project
-Maintain relations with the funder.
-Ensure compliance to Internews and USG Rules and Regulations
-Oversight of financial systems and budget tracking
-Management of project staff
-Manage monitoring and evaluation systems that reflect comprehensive approach and progress of the project
-Conduct field visits, follow up for implementation monitoring and evaluation of the project-funded activities
-Preparation of Monthly and Quarterly Reports on program activities and ensures that all reports of partners and grantees are submitted on time.
-Ensures that the grant program is supporting the program goal and objectives
Qualifications:
Education:
Advanced degree or equivalent in Journalism, social sciences, development field or any other related fields.
Experience:
-8+ years experience with managing program implementation and budgets.
-Experience with US government funding compliance requirements and regulations.
-Understanding of the media environment and good relations with the media, stakeholders, and civil society organizations.
-Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in media and media production
-Strong written and spoken English
-Computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, and ICT software.
-Capacity to work under pressure and meet tight schedules with minimum supervision.
