The contracted service provider shall survey project’s beneficiaries who received online freelancing training for the purpose of measuring the impact this training had on their online freelancing careers and income generation rates. This is in addition to having accurate statistics related to the source and nature of online jobs project’s beneficiaries were able to obtain.
About GGateway:
GGateway is the first Information and Communications Technology (ICT) social enterprise in Palestine and started as an initiative in 2012 inside the United Nations for Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). GGateway became an independent non-profit entity in 2016 with a hybrid model between business and social. GGateway offers temporary employments and a learning environment for recent ICT graduates, enhancing their skills and enabling them to provide unique IT outsourcing services to the local market and to international clients.
About the Project:
The Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) seeks innovative ideas and approaches to developing strong programs within and across the Middle East and North Africa. Supported by a MEPI grant and through “Youth Empowerment through Online Freelancing and Remote Employment in Gaza” project, GGateway aims to empower ICT recent graduates/senior students to be able to start freelancing careers through online freelancing platforms. During 2017 GGateway trained 300 beneficiaries on online freelancing skills. Over 20 training courses were conducted; each course consisted of 40 hours of intensive training, and delivered to groups of 15-20 beneficiaries. The top 100 performers during the training and subsequent evaluations are selected to be hosted for 3 months in GGateway’s co-working space (GHub). During their hosting phase, beneficiaries benefit from technical trainings and freelancing mentoring in an effort to help them further enhance their freelancing careers. So far around 50 beneficiaries have completed their hosting phase, and 50 more will undergo the same process over the coming three months.
Objectives:
The mid-term and final evaluations are conducted for the purpose of obtaining accurate, reliable and more representative data about the impact that the project has made towards the empowerment of youth through online freelancing and remote employment. Having such data available will aid greatly in constructing a more meaningful and representative project’s lessons learned, and will enable GGateway to design and implement a more focused interventions in the future.
