MA’AN Development Center is an independent Palestinian non-profit organization, founded in Jerusalem in January 1989. Committed to a human rights-based approach, community partnerships, and active participation, MA’AN focuses on enhancing resilience, empowerment, and the realization of rights for the most vulnerable, including the poor and marginalized groups. The organization works to unleash latent capacities for sustainable development and crisis response.
About the Project:
Project Title: "Green Palestine: Promoting a sustainable environment for children, their families, and communities in Areas B and C of the West Bank"
Funded by BMZ and implemented by MA’AN Development Center in collaboration with World Vision JWG, the project aims to enhance resilience to climate change and environmental hazards for approximately 17,548 children (aged 6-18) and 9,767 adults across 40 communities in Hebron, Jordan Valley, Salfit, and Qalqilya. The initiative focuses on establishing green-environment committees, launching gender and age-sensitive community-based environmental protection awareness campaigns, and implementing innovative eco-friendly activities for children. The ultimate goal is to make communities more resilient in the face of climate change and environmental challenges.
We are currently seeking two Coordinators for this position, and both male and female candidates are welcome to apply. The positions are available in two locations: Hebron Governate and Qalqilya/Salfit/Jordan Valley governates.
Purpose:
The Project Coordinator will lead the implementation of project activities in the field, including conducting environmental / agricultural informational community sessions, coordinating conduct gender and age-sensitive community-based environmental protection awareness campaigns, and coordinate and supervision innovative eco-friendly initiatives for children in targeted communities.
Major Duties Include:
- Overall Coordination of Implementation Process:
- Coordinate project activities in the field, ensuring technical quality and standards are met.
- Conduct daily follow-up, track progress, and provide timely feedback.
- Community mobilization, analysis/research, and selection of targeted communities.
- Regular visits to project communities, partner organizations, and project locations.
- Establish a data-based on the current beneficiaries and keep it updated.
- Conduct regular visits to partner organizations and the project locations.
- Provide regular updates on beneficiaries, targeting mechanisms and methods to the project manager.
- Provide recommendations for improvements in any of the matters listed above.
- Provide the project manager with up-to-date overviews of progress on project implementation.
- Coordinate technical assessments and supervise the design of environmental l agricultural technical solutions.
- Coordinate distribution, implementation, and monitoring of interventions at various levels.
- Data Collection and Reporting:
- Collect relevant data on activity implementation and monitoring.
- Supports data analysis with project staff and raises or highlights key issues with manager.
- Prepare and submit periodic reports to the Project Manager.
- Community Engagement and Coordination:
- Coordinate with different Ministries and local committees, suppliers, and other stakeholders with prior consultation with the project manager.
- Ensure compliance with MA’AN technical guidelines, standards, and policies.
- Innovative Environmental/Agricultural Initiatives and Awareness Campaigns:
- Coordinate Implement community-based environmental protection initiatives, including the establishment of green-friendly spaces, hydroponic gardens, and other sustainable practices.
- Conducting environmental informational community sessions/meetings at the different youth clubs’ structures/ CBOs within the targeted communities,
- Coordinate holding of gender and age-sensitive community-based environmental protection awareness campaigns.

- BA or MA degree in environmental engineering, agriculture, horticulture, environmental science/studies, or related fields.
- 5 years of experience in environmental and/or agricultural management interventions.
- Working experience within the NGO sector in a similar position.
- Technical knowledge and experience in environmental and/or agricultural sector assessment, data analysis, and development of communication and awareness plans.
- Knowledge of Palestinian laws on Environment Management Systems.
- Desirable knowledge of Hydroponics, Composting technologies, and the 3 Rs cycle.
- A valid driver’s license is an advantage.
Skills and Personal Attributes:
- Proficiency in writing narrative reports in English and Arabic.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, prioritize workload, and multitask.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in MS-Office including MS-Project.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
- Self-motivated, flexible, and resilient, able to take initiative and work independently.
