The Palestinian Museum Digital Archive
The Palestinian Museum is an independent institution dedicated to supporting an open and dynamic Palestinian culture nationally and internationally. The Palestinian Museum is the flagship project of Taawon-Welfare Association and one of the most exciting new cultural projects in Palestine.
The Palestinian Museum is starting a new project that aims to create a digital archive of audio-visual elements, as well as objects, documents and art works from at risk collections from around 1800 to the present day, with open access to the public in both Arabic and English. Over the 36-month project period, starting January 2018, the Palestinian Museum anticipates having 145,000 digital items uploaded on the online platform and on the servers of a partner institution in the United States.
The Museum is looking for a motivated and committed individual with a strong background in Information and Communication Technology, a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a discipline relevant to the position, at least seven years’ managerial experience in a cultural or artistic organization/project, experience in research, communication, who is also familiar with different concepts and methods of archiving, strong communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency in English and Arabic and a background in Middle East and/or Palestine Studies.
The Palestinian Museum Digital Archive Manager will be responsible for the planning, management, coordination and financial control of the project. S/he will oversee the project to ensure the desired result is achieved on time and the budget is respected. The Project Manager will work closely with the Museum Director and the Research and Collections Manager and will collaborate with other departments for support.
The Project Manager is expected to travel frequently to establish partnerships for the project in the above-mentioned locations, and as necessary throughout the project life.
