Stars of Hope Society (SHS) is a lead woman with disabilities organization in Palestine. It is a woman-centered organization that is based on a collective model of operation. It is the only organization of its kind in Palestine and one of a few numbers internationally.

The organization is headquartered in Ramallah, with a branch office in Gaza, with a dedicated team of 26 talented persons. 

Project Overview:

Stars of Hope Society (SHS) is implementing a project titled “Strengthening Resilience and Improving Access to Inclusive Rehabilitation, GBV-related Counseling Services, and Psychosocial Support for Persons with and without Disabilities in the Gaza Strip, Area C and East Jerusalem of the West Bank.”

The primary goal of this project is to improve access to inclusive rehabilitation services, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), gender-based violence (GBV) counseling, and economic empowerment, for persons with and without disabilities, particularly for women and girls. The project aims also to enhance their capacity to respond to crises, foster income-generating opportunities, promote active and inclusive participation in community life, and raise awareness of gender equality and violence prevention.

The project is expected to begin on November 1, 2024, in the targeted areas, with an initial duration of four years, contingent on the approval of the project proposal.

The objective of the position:

Through this project, Stars of Hope Society (SHS) is seeking a skilled and motivated Project Manager to join our dynamic team with a background in disability inclusion and managing humanitarian projects, with familiarity with Rehabilitation, MHPSS, and Protection-related interventions. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our mission by managing, overseeing, organizing, facilitating, and monitoring various project activities and team performance in the targeted areas. This position holder will play a crucial role in the project's overall success.

Key Duties and responsibilities:

The Project Manager, under the direct supervision of the Senior Programs Officer and with close coordination with relevant project stakeholders, is responsible for ensuring that project design and implementation are technically sound and financially viable, through primarily handling the following key responsibilities and duties:   

  • Successfully lead the planning, organizing, implementation, and monitoring of overall project plans, budgets, components, and activities, from conception to execution, ensuring they comply with SHS and donor guidelines.
  • Effectively lead the project team and coordinators towards ensuring full delivery of projects components and logistics framework that comply with project plan, timeframes, and allocated resources, while also reviewing all related paperwork production and documentation.
  • Act as a focal point of contact between the project team, components, senior and executive management, and key partners.
  • Regularly conduct and lead the project meetings to track progress and address early any issues that arise,
  • Contribute to the development, mentorship, and capacity building of the project team, ensuring they are well-prepared, technically educated, and supported in their daily tasks and plans, tracking their performance, as well as facilitating communication channels with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure all project activities are inclusive of project components including rehabilitation, economic empowerment, MHPSS, and GBV-related services, and responsive to the needs of project beneficiaries.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of innovative and inclusive training and capacity-building activities, that enhance the effective content delivery of project components and objectives, in close coordination with trainers and facilitators.
  • Contribute to the identification and mitigation of project risks, hazards, and issues effectively.
  • Manage and build healthy relationships with key stakeholders, including local authorities, donors, and partner organizations in project-targeted areas.
  • In close coordination with MEL role, effectively conduct project reviews and post-project evaluations, while regularly monitoring progress, ensuring alignment with project objectives and financial viability.
  • Actively lead and contribute to the preparation, review, and submission of regular project reports on time and quality compliance, including lessons learned and success stories.
  • Assist in drafting and preparing contracts and service agreements for field teams and service providers that are compliant with organizational standards.
  • Contribute to the writing of press releases and well-crafted articles about project activities and maintain information flow for the Palestinian public.
  • Actively promote beneficiary communities’ engagement and participation in project activities and evaluation.
  • Engage in project-based travels and visits, while representing SHS in national and international events and forums, promoting organization and project objectives and desired impact wildly.
  • Handel the administrative tasks of the project team such as attendance approval and control.
  • Any other duties assigned by the direct manager.

متطلبات الوظيفة

 Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field in Human Sciences or Social Studies, with a preference for candidates holding a Master’s degree in a similar field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in project management with a preference for those with similar domain organizations.
  • Proficiency in project planning, monitoring, budget supervision, and logistics, including data collection, analysis, and reporting, with a preference for PMP holders.
  • Good hands-on experience in managing humanitarian projects, particularly those in rehabilitation and economic empowerment themes.
  • Familiarity with gender-focused initiatives, with preference for experience in working with persons with disabilities, particularly women and girls.
  • Strong understanding of the local context in the Palestinian territories, especially in terms of the socio-cultural challenges that persons with and without disabilities face.
  • Possesses excellent leadership, strategic decision-making, advanced problem-solving, and high emotional intelligence skills
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights.
  • Proficient in computer software, especially Microsoft Office, with a preference for dealing with data analysis tools (SPSS, Excel, and/or others).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Fluency in both English and Arabic, including reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Be highly committed, able to work under pressure, adapt to new situations and meet deadlines.
  • Preferably, holding a Jerusalem ID.
