Project Officer

Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) is a Norwegian non-governmental organisation working in humanitarian relief and long-term development work in more than 35 countries worldwide.

NPA Palestine cooperates with around 30-35 local organisations in development and
emergency relief in East Jerusalem, West Bank and Gaza Strip. The main focuses for NPA’s development work are: land and resource rights; democratic rights and the right to participate in the civil society for youth, women, refugees and workers. Humanitarian relief in sectors of agriculture and education.

Post title: Project Officer
Focus: humanitarian/emergency work
Duration: one year position with possibility of permanent employment.
Starting date: As soon as possible
Duty Station: NPA Palestine office in Gaza City. Local position with regular travel to West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Main tasks among others of the Project Officer:
-Develop the programs and projects within NPA humanitarian/emergency work in cooperation with local NGOs according to NPA’s policies and based on the needs in Palestine.
-Provide analysis about humanitarian situation in Palestine.
-Responsible to follow up partners’ project cycle and the implementation of on-going projects within the humanitarian portfolio of NPA.
-Monitoring of ongoing projects, plan for evaluations and new strategies and writing reports to donors.
-Explore fundraising possibilities and produce proposals.
-Identify capacity needs of local partner organisations.

Qualifications:
-Relevant university degree.
-Excellent knowledge within humanitarian aid and emergency response work.
-At least 3-5 years experience working with the NGO sector in Palestine.
-Excellent computer skills, writing and communication skills in English and Arabic.
-High motivation and excellent work ethic, both as part of a team and independently.
