THE ORGANIZATION

THE JOB
Courtesy of its HIWAR project titled “Strengthening Disabled People’s Organizations’ role in multi-stakeholder dialogues for democratic changes ‘Hiwar’ in Egypt, Jordan and the occupied Palestinian territories” funded by the European Union, and being implemented until September 2016, HI seeks to recruit a Project Officer to manage the last stages of its implementation.
THE PROJECT
In the first phase of the project HI supported several DPOs from Ramallah, Jenin, Qalqilya, Nablus, to conduct qualitative and quantitative research as well in identify the principles of policy analysis and develop plans for advocacy initiatives on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
As a result a national research report on the barriers that face SWDs in public schools in the primary stages was produced. According to the recommendations and results of the research, DPOs were called to apply for the second phase of grants proposals, aimed at translating the findings into advocacy initiatives.
OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION
Under the line management of the ILD Project Manager, the Project Officer will oversee the overall quality management and implementation of all project related activities

FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Internal: Support Services, Regional Project Manager, Rehabilitation Project Manager
External: Project Beneficiaries and Humanitarian and Development Actors
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibility 1: Overall Project implementation
-Support the different stages and tasks involved in realizing this project and update on a regular basis the project action plan.
-Ensure activities are Implemented in order to achieve the expected results
-Follow up qualitative and quantitative indicators
-He/she adjusts the project methodologies to ensure their relevancy and adequacy to the evolving context
-Prepare all purchase requests for consumables and liaise with support services to ensure timely purchases
Responsibility 2: Participation to project coordination
-Contribute to an efficient coordination and sharing of information with regional and other country-based HI teams involved in the project.
-Participate in strategic and operational meetings of HI teams at the regional level.
-Work closely with other members of the Palestine mission to ensure synergy and coordination between ongoing projects.
Responsibility 3: Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
-Submit a monthly internal report on the project under your responsibility
-Contribute to donor reports according to schedule and requirements set in the donor(s) contract(s).
-Submit monthly updates for the HI internal newsletters.
-Ensure the alignment of developed data collection tools to documentation of indicators and measurement of progress made
-Facilitate project capitalization and ensure that good practices under the project are identified
-Maintain a beneficiary database
-Ensure all documents are filed based on list of all documents/tools produced under the project
Responsibility 4: Representation
-Attend workshops, seminars, meetings and conferences related to the project in the area of intervention.
-Represent HI towards stakeholders in the field and area of intervention of the project.
-You may be asked by your line manager to represent the organization in other fora.
DURATION OF CONTRACT:
The duration of contract is for 6 months, full time position ; expected starting date: 01 April 2016
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
Will have
-Degree (Bachelor Degree ) in Development studies or Social fields (Sociology, Social Sciences, protection)
-Excellent oral and written English skills
-At least 3 years’ experience in project implementation with INGOs preferably in the disability field.
-Experience in working with DPOs and in micro-grant management
-Strong communication and reporting skills
-Strong organizational skills
-Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
-Ability to work under pressure
-Willingness to travel to Gaza and Amman occasionally
