Project officer 



Extension and training center at the Faculty of agriculture and Environment, Al Azhar University –Gaza in partnership with and funding by Secours Islamique France (SIF), will implement a livelihood project aims at. Improving the Food Security of Vulnerable Families through the reinforcement of the Research-action system of Al-Azhar University- Faculty of Agriculture and Environment.  The project goal will be achieved through three specific objectives: (1) Improving farmer’s technical and economic efficiency of their farming system, (2) strengthening Institutional capacity of University and extension institutions, and (3) Improving food security of vulnerable families,

The Extension and training center is seeking Project Officer to follow up the implementation of project activities. 

Contract term: 1 year
Place : Gaza
Reporting to: projects manager

Summary Job Description:
Under the supervision of the proejcts manager , the proejct offcier will be responsible for overall coordination, planning, administrative, and supervising all the project activities.
Closely coordinate with SIF project Manager all project implementation aspects and ensure that the project meets its objectives and targets.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Planning and coordination

-Develop monthly activity plans and oversee the implementation.     
Facilitate periodic staff meetings.
-Coordinate with SIF project manager the monthly project planning implementation, and reporting.
-Planning for beneficiaries need assessments, baseline and endline survey.
-Consult with the faculty memenrs of the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment all technical issues related to project activities.
-Ensure that all project implementation process comply with SIF policy and regulation.

Staff supervision and development

-Directly supervises a team consists of project assistant and 10 agricultural practitioners.
Conduct weekly meetings and follow up the project plan.
-Approve and monitor individual work plans for the staff team.
-Coordinate with faculty staff to organize the students training and field research activities.

Documentation, Learning and Reporting

-Ensure agricultural practitioners submit timely, complete and accurate reports
-Design and manage the M&E data base.
-Document best practices, lessons learned and success stories.
-Prepare monthly narrative progress reports and baseline and end line reports.
-Supporting in the identification and elaboration of new project proposals

Required Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

-Bachelor degree in, Business Administration, Agriculture sciences, Project management or related discipline.
-At least 5 years of experience in community development, with at least 3 years of project management.
-Specialized knowledge of and experience with livelihood and capacity building projects - with a preference for agricultural related activities.
-Previous experience in conducting needs assessments, baseline and end line survey.
-Proven leadership ability with strong interpersonal skills.
-Strong reporting and documentation skills.
-Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
-Strong computer skills (Word, Excel).
