Protection Field Officer

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of war and internal violence and to provide them with assistance.

Minimum required knowledge and experience:
-High School degree
-2 years work experience
-Good Command in written and spoken English
-Good computer skills
-Good knowledge of geographically assigned environment
-Good analytical skills
-Ability to represent ICRC and respect the confidentiality
-Ability to behave in neutral and impartial way towards all interlocutors
-Flexible, independent, self-motivated and able to work with a team
-Diplomatic and have good negotiation skills
-Valid driving licence

Standard functions, duties and responsibilities:
-Develops and maintains contacts at municipal and district levels with authorities, humanitarian NGOs, agencies, organisations.
-Provides oral and written analysis on the internal and external security situation, economy, culture, political trends; briefs and advises the delegates on such issues
-Identifies cases to document, contacts and interviews victims / witnesses; contributes to reporting
-Ensures safe access for emergency medical services by receiving data, localises area on maps, passes information to delegates, liaises with the different entities and follows up the movements on the field
-Collects information and makes assessment about possible cases falling under ICRC’s mandate;
-Cooperates with the different departments on projects assessment and follow-up
-Explains ICRC’s mandate / activities to beneficiaries, authorities and other stakeholders
-Interprets and translates with accuracy from English to Arabic and vice versa
