Duration :8 months including probation period

Duty Station : Ramallah with frequent trips to Za’ayyem, Maazi Jaba, Jabal al Baba, An Nabi Samwil, Beit Iksa
Reports to : TDH IT Coordinator of Psycho-social and awareness activities (CPAA)
Terre des Hommes Italia (TDH It) is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting children against all forms of violence or abuse and guaranteeing their right to health, education and life. TDH It, which is part of the TDH International Federation, is currently assisting 100.000 children and 400.000 people with 70 projects in 20 countries worldwide, carrying out humanitarian interventions and development projects in the sectors of education, mother and child health, income generation, water and sanitation, child protection and rehabilitation, to the benefit of thousands of children, their families and communities.
TDH It works in Palestine since 2000, and it has implemented several educational, health and psycho-social interventions together with its National Partners and with Local Authorities in East Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
In June 2017 TDH It has started the project “Increase the resilience and wellbeing of marginalized Palestinian communities in Area C and Seam Zone” 10910/OXFAMITA/AREAC/11, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (Jerusalem Office) led by OXFAM in consortium with TDH It, which aim is to improve the resilience and the wellbeing of the most vulnerable Palestinian communities in Area C and Seam zone, developing, with a communitarian approach, an environmental and psychosocial context safer and protected.
Within the frame of its activities, TDH It is looking for a Protection Officer/Psychosocial activities’ supervisor to join the team, with the purpose of coordinating and supervising psycho-social activities with children and their families in Area C and Seam Zone (specifically, in Jabal Al Baba, Zanba - Az Za'ayyem, Maazi Jaba, An Nabi Samwil and Beit Iksa ).
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- In coordination with the CPAA, design and implement work plans in order to meet project’s goals and results
- In coordination with the CPAA directly organize and supervise the daily implementation of the activities as per work plan, particularly in relation to the psychosocial component, and monitor the correct implementation of the Action plan in the project locations; assess progress and suggest adjustments to activities and approach as required
- In coordination with the CPAA design the project’s monitoring system; design efficient and effective data collection tools and monitor the quality of data; contribute to data analysis
- Submit to the CPAA a monthly progress report or whenever is required
- Support the CPAA in monitoring and implementing the project, also in relation to the technical aspects, facilitating the communication flow with the relevant staff to ensure the achievement of project objectives and outcomes
- Serve as Focal Point between TDH It and its local partner (PMRS) and among the entire Project staff, in relation to the Psychosocial component of the project
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to project staff, local communities and centers supported by the project and promptly report to the CPAA any need which may rise among the project staff or the communities
In coordination with the CPAA, participate to the Project Committee’s meetings and contribute in drafting its agenda
- Verify the regular coordination and communication flow among all stakeholders
- Contribute to the definition of material needs (equipment, resources, etc.) of the project’s beneficiaries and/or staff
- Support the CPAA in ensuring the visibility of the project activities, as set forth in the Donor procedures
- Translate all needed documentation into English upon CPAA’s request
- Upon request, perform any other additional duties given by the CPAA in order to ensure the correct management of the project and the achievement of its goals and results
- Support the CPAA, in the coordination with Oxfam's staff, to ensure that all required standards and procedures are properly applied.
- Assist the CPAA in ensuring compliance with the safety standards
Child Protection
- Promote and ensure project activities are in line with Child Protection principles
- Ensure the project activities are integrated in the humanitarian coordination practices and guidelines
- Promote inclusion and equal access to every child
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding information and data of beneficiaries at all time
Other
- Undertake to respect the dignity of all the people involved
- Respect the Donor guidelines, in particular regarding disability, gender, child protection and visibility and communication;
- Agree to comply with TDH It Code of Conduct and ensure Child Safeguarding standards are upheld
- Keep confidential all sensitive documents and information concerning the Project and TDH IT work in the Country
Qualifications and experience:
- At least a BA in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or other related fields
- At least 2 years of relevant experience (work experience with INGOs is an asset), in coordination roles in education and/or child protection projects
- Competence, skills and a solid commitment in promoting and implementing a shared vision towards promoting rights-based, inclusive and participatory approaches.
- Knowledge of Early Childhood Development, psycho-social approaches
- Familiarity with local and international child protection practices and procedures
- Sound oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with all involved stakeholders
- Sound interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team
- Sound organizational, problem solving and reporting skills
- Availability to move within the West Bank and East Jerusalem
- Valid driving license
Language and Computer skills:
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and good command of written and spoken English. Basic knowledge of Hebrew is an asset
- Good computer literacy (Word, Excel, Power Point)
