MdM is a medical humanitarian NGO. Since 1980, MdM has worked independently around the world to guarantee universal and sustainable access to healthcare.
In Palestine, the objectives of the programs are to limit the medical impact of the restrictions in accessing medical care on the Palestinian population, to improve mental health and psychosocial care and to bear witness to the violations of the right to health.

MAIN OBJECTIVE
Assist in the implementation of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities for MdM France in Gaza, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services across various levels in accordance with established requirements.
Main responsibilities and activities of the Psychologist can change according to the organization of the work and to the composition of the team.
- Implement MHPSS Integration activities internally within MdM medical and non-medical projects or externally with MdM France partners in Gaza.
- Assess the psychological and mental health needs of patients at individual level, considering identified symptoms and mental health conditions. Develop a treatment plan in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and MdM guidelines. Inform patients and their families, when necessary, about potential referrals to specialized mental health services.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of awareness-raising sessions on mental health, ensuring they are aligned with the identified needs of the population and responsive to the volatile and changing context.
- Implement capacity-building activities for specialized and non-specialized health service providers in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) through targeted training sessions. This includes participating in the preparation for trainings by defining training needs, topics, and agendas, as well as organizing attendance sheets, pre- and post-tests, and promotional materials, ensuring delivery aligns with the established work plan.
- Provide a monthly, quarterly, or annual report of activities in due time.
- Contribute to the MHPSS data analysis in collaboration with the MHPSS Supervisor.
- Collaborate and participate in any field survey, data collection, and/or need assessment organized by MDM-F in relation to health, MHPSS, SRH, GBV or any other relevant topic.
- Contribute through the successful histories to the capitalization of the MHPSS activities in collaboration with the MHPSS Supervisor.
- Participate in specific and relevant meetings as delegated by the functional supervisor, with prior approval from the MHPSS Manager.
Specific Responsibilities in the project.
- Provide structured technical support related to GBV and other relevant cases, tailored to the MHPSS needs of beneficiaries.
- Provide structured information on referral pathways and networking for MHPSS, Protection, GBV cases and other relevant multisectoral referrals to the beneficiaries’ and their families.
- Provide structured technical information on case management for MHPSS cases to the MHPSS Supervisor when needed.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
Education:
- Mandatory: Psychological degree (bachelor mandatory, and valid professional license certificate to practice issued by MoH.
- Desirable: high diploma or master's degree in community mental health or counselling.
Experience:
- Mandatory: at least 2 years of providing psychological care individually and to different population groups: adults, children, and adolescents, delivering psychoeducation and awareness raising activities.
- Mandatory: , DSM 5 and other international MHPSS guidelines resources.
- Desirable: Previous experience and knowledge of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities within the humanitarian sector or Experience in mobile clinics or community-based health programs.
Languages:
- Mandatory: Fluency in Arabic. Excellent reading and writing skills in English
- Desirable: Knowledge of mental health terminology in English.
Computer Skills:
- Mandatory: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Desirable: Experience with psychological scales or reporting tools.
Soft Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- High level of confidentiality, empathy, and sensitivity.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and capacity to work in a team and under pressure
- Commitment to humanitarian principles and MdM values
