Duty Station:Ramallah with daily trips to Jerusalem, Za’ayyem and Sheikh Sa’ad
Reports to:TDH IT Project Manager
Terre des Hommes Italia (TDH It) is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting children against all forms of violence or abuse and guaranteeing their right to health, education and life. TDH It, which is part of the TDH International Federation, is currently assisting 100.000 children and 400.000 people with 70 projects in 20 countries worldwide, carrying out humanitarian interventions and development projects in the sectors of education, mother and child health, income generation, water and sanitation, child protection and rehabilitation, to the benefit of thousands of children, their families and communities.
TDH It works in Palestine since 2000, and it has implemented several educational, health and psycho-social interventions together with its National Partners and with Local Authorities in East Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
Within the frame of its activities, TDH It is looking for a Psycho-social activities’ supervisor to join our team, with the purpose of coordinating and supervising psycho-social activities with children and their families in East Jerusalem (specifically, in Wadi Qaddoum, Za’ayyem and Sheikh Sa’ad neighborhoods).
Main tasks and responsibilities:
Commit to perform his/her professional duties in the spirit of TDH It principles as set forth in TDH It Code of Conduct
Undertake to respect, both privately and publicly, the rights of children.
In coordination with the Project Manager (PM) and with the Project Leading Committee (PLC), design and implement work plans in order to meet project’s goals and results
In coordination with the PM, participate to the meetings of the PLC and contribute in drafting its agenda
In coordination with the PM design the project’s monitoring system; design efficient and effective data collection tools and monitor the quality of data; contribute to data analysis
In coordination with the PM, contribute to the project reporting
Submit to the PM a monthly progress report
In coordination with the PM, the PLC and the field staff, design and implement the monthly work plan
Directly organize and supervise the daily implementation of the activities as per work plan and optimize the management of the project staff to this end also through regular (at least three per week) field visits
Provide technical assistance and guidance to project staff, local communities and centers supported by the project
Oversee implementation of the project activities according to action plan and best practices; assess progress and suggest adjustments to activities and approach as required
Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and asses new and better ways to assist
Liaise with the involved communities and with relevant stakeholders, including Palestinian Local Authorities
Prepare, in coordination with the Admin/Log and under the supervision of the PM, a Security Management Plan, and keep all project staff updated on the security rules in place
Translate all needed documentation into English upon PM’s request
Keep confidential all sensitive documents and information concerning the Project and TDH IT work in the Country
Upon request, perform any other additional duties given by the PM in order to ensure the correct management of the project and the achievement of its goals and results
Qualifications and experience:
At least a BA in Education, Social Work or other related field
At least 2 years of relevant experience (work experience with INGOs is an asset)
Competence, skills and a solid commitment in promoting and implementing a shared vision towards promoting rights-based, inclusive and participatory approaches.
Knowledge of models of learning and teaching including appropriate intervention strategies
Sound knowledge of Early Childhood Development and psycho-social approaches
Sound oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with all involved stakeholders
Sound interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team
Sound organizational, problem solving and reporting skills
Availability to move within the West Bank and East Jerusalem
Valid driving license
Language and Computer skills:
Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and good command of written and spoken English. Basic knowledge of Hebrew is an asset
Good computer literacy (Word, Excel, Power Point)
