BACKGROUND

QADER is implementing an initiative titled “Enhancing the protection of women and girls with disabilities from SGBV (Erada)” within Naseej project implemented by Oxfam and co-financed by the European Union. Erada is an 18-months project that aims at strengthening support services for women and girls with disabilities SGBV survivors, and transforming the social norms that perpetuate SGBV with a special focus on youth engagement. QADER will establish a hotline for women and girls with disabilities SGBV survivors with a specialized legal and psychosocial counselling services, and will implement awareness campaigns on SGBV and the protection of women and girls with disabilities through mobilizing the role of youth, community influencers and role models.

JOB SUMMARY

The Psychosocial Counsellor will be responsible for operating the hotline for receiving individual complaints from women and girls with disabilities SGBV survivors, provide psychosocial counselling and support as needed and implement an effective referral mechanism to protection service providers through a case management approach.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work closely with QADER technical staff on the development of Hotline SOPs.
• Operate the hotline on SGBV for women and girls with disabilities through receiving complaints, ensuring complete documentation, and identifying the proper action and follow up
• Ensure application and full compliance with QADER’s confidentiality and data protection policy, and other relevant policies.
• Provide individual psychosocial counselling to women and girls with disability SGBV survivors, and refer cases to specialized protection services as needed, through a case management approach.
• Develop and implement effective referral mechanism to specialized protection service providers.
• Liaise with GBV protection service providers among official institutions and civil society organizations, and promote synergies and cooperation with them.
• Provide guidance to the Psychosocial Support Coordinator on needed field work regarding the case management follow up.
• Contribute to the development of awareness raising content and materials.
• Contribute to the development of communication materials, advocacy, preparation of position papers, policy papers, strengthening coalitions and networks.

QUALIFICATION & CORE COMPETENCIES

• BA in psychology, or social work with minor in psychology with specialized advanced training in counselling.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in psychosocial counselling and support services particularly in relation to SGBV.
• Demonstrated pursuit to learning and continued education in counselling.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in legal counselling is a plus.
• Familiarity with national protection systems on GBV, protection service providers and the national referral systems for women and children.
• Demonstrated knowledge on local laws related to women, children and persons with disabilities, in addition to international human rights conventions.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills in Arabic, good command of spoken and written English language is a plus.
• Proficiency in using MS Windows, MS Office packages (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
• Ability to resolve issues professionally.
• Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
