The U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem is seeking an individual for the position of Purchasing Agent in the General Services Office.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
This position reports to the Procurement Supervisor, who is in charge of the Procurement section for the Consulate General. The incumbent is in charge of purchasing local and off-shore items needed for the Consulate General and its participating agencies; handles routine procurement requirements and off-the shelf items and services; ascertains that all actions conform to current acquisition regulations; maintains procurement files and spreadsheets; periodically reviews status of orders and follows up with vendors; and is a holder of a Government Purchase Card.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
- Completion of secondary schooling is required.
- A minimum of two years of procurement experience or related field is required.
- Level IV (Fluency) in English and Arabic, and Level III (Good Working Knowledge) in Hebrew are required.
- A good working knowledge of local market conditions, pricing structures, market practices, and the capabilities of potential local suppliers is required.
- Ability to plan daily work, prioritize assignments according to urgency and due dates is required.
- Must be able to use Microsoft Office, particularly spreadsheets and database, and Internet.
SELECTION PROCESS:
When equally qualified, Eligible Family Members and U.S. Veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate address the required qualifications above in the application.
ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA
- Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
- Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
- EFMs who currently hold a FMA appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of that appointment.
- Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
- Candidates are subject to testing for language, computer or other position related skills.
