About IREX:
IREX is an international nonprofit organization providing thought leadership and innovative programs to promote positive lasting change globally. IREX enables local individuals and institutions to build key elements of a vibrant society: quality education and innovative youth development programming, independent media, and strong communities.
In the West Bank and Gaza, IREX is implementing the USAID-funded Partnerships with Youth (PWY) program. The PWY Program expands educational and leadership opportunities for young people aged 14-29 throughout the West Bank by creating sustainable hubs for youth innovation and learning, called Youth Development Resource Centers (YDRCs). PWY supports YDRCs in 9 governorates in the West Bank to offer otherwise unavailable services and programming for youth to prepare them for a successful transition to adulthood and help ensure economic and civic participation in their communities. PWY programming focuses on training and other activities that help youth develop leadership, media/communication, ICT, and employability skills.
Summary of Position:
The PWY Fellows program guarantees the essential youth presence and voice in PWY activities and planning, and offers hands-on, practical work experience to young Palestinian professionals. Under the supervision of the Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP), the PWY Fellow will assist the project’s capacity building and grants management teams with the tasks detailed below.
Capacity Building:
-Assist the PWY technical staff to plan, implement, and track a full schedule of training programs and other activities for youth throughout the West Bank.
-Assist with the verification of activities at the YDRCs by conducting site visits and reviewing reports and other documentation (e.g., attendance sheets, satisfaction surveys, and photos).
-Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of PWY programming at the YDRCs.
-Review and provide feedback on technical program documents as applicable.
-Support and assist PWY interns to develop and implement training activities, which includes making logistical arrangements, monitoring the quality of the training, and preparing activity reports.
-Participate on the selection committee for PWY’s competitive youth-led initiatives program.
Grants Management:
-Assist in monthly review of grant deliverables and milestones, and update and maintain the grant payment tracking list.
-Help to update and maintain the PWY grant database and soft/hard-copy filing systems.
-Review and provide feedback on grant agreements and grant modification documentation as applicable.
General:
-Promote the PWY mission, strategies, and goals.
-Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
-A fresh graduate from college or university with a degree in social sciences, media and communication, ICT, community or youth development, or other related field.
-Must be less than 29 years old.
-Committed to the development of Palestinian youth, and interested in working with youth and community development programs.
-Self-motivated, quick learner, and able to take initiative.
-Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work positively and cooperatively within a team.
-Strong English and Arabic language skills, both written and verbal.
PWY Fellows receive a small daily stipend to cover transportation costs and other incidental expenses.
