Role Summary & Duties and Responsibilities:

The 3G RAN expert is responsible for sites design, cell-design-data preparation, network tuning, and optimization.

-    3G Radio access network analysis, tuning, and optimization.
-    Dimensioning the 3G Radio Access Network (number of Node-Bs, RNCs, channel elements...) according to the coverage, capacity and quality requirements.
-    Analyzing drive test log-files and recommending network tuning changes.
-    Performing network analysis and troubleshooting.
-    Recommending and activating radio features to maximize the 3G network capacity and performance.
-    Planning the Node-Bs in a WCDMA RF planning tool, defining their related parameters: site coordinates, antenna type, antenna height, antenna tilt, antenna azimuth, CPICH power, Scrambling Codes, propagation model parameters.
-    Calculating the 3G RF link budget and generating propagation models for the different area types.
-    Generating coverage and quality predictions of the 3G radio plan.
-    Scrambling codes, power, and neighbor relations planning
-    Preparing the site design data for the site integration on the RNCs.
-    Preparing the 3G cluster acceptance process and requirements.
-    Analyzing the 3G sites performance after integration through drive test and OSS measurements, detecting inconsistencies and RF problems and recommending changes to fixing them.
-    Auditing the radio network parameters and recommending parameter changes on RNC and Baseband unit.
-    Creating and using statistical reports for monitoring and troubleshooting the radio access network.
-    Using the OSS WCDMA Radio Network Optimization tools for analyzing the network performance.
-    Coordinating and validating the technical work with a group of RF engineers.
-    Preparing reports and presentations about the 3G radio network optimization activities and performance.

Experience & Qualifications:

-    B.Sc degree in Electrical/Telecommunication engineering or equivalent.
-    (5+) years of experience in RAN planning and optimization projects with operators and/or vendors.
-    Proven expertise in 3G RAN planning is required.
-    Proven expertise in translating business requirements into operating technologies.
-    Deep knowledge and practice of Ericsson’s 3G RAN dimensioning, planning and optimization processes.
-    Full knowledge of Ericsson’s RAN (Node-B, RNCs …) portfolio.
-    Experience in RAN modernization and multi-technology Ericsson RAN equipment.
-    Proven expertise in HSPA+ initial tuning and launching 3G RANs.
-    Excellent knowledge of OSS Optimization tools, SHM, RNO, GPEH ...
-    Excellent working experience with radio planning, drive test, and post-processing tools.
-    Practical experience of working with Ericsson’s 3G radio counters and statistics.
-    Excellent knowledge of telecom vendors, technologies, and trends.
-    Initial tuning experience for 3G Network is a must
-    3G Core network experience is Plus
