Five Short ICT Technical Courses - Gaza Strip
Mercy Corps is looking for a service provider(s) to deliver five focused, short ICT courses in Gaza Strip.
Background:
Mercy Corps is a nonprofit international relief and development organization serving more than 19 million people in 36 countries. Mercy Corps has had a presence in the West Bank and Gaza since the 1980s, helping Palestinians meet their immediate needs for survival and find durable solutions to chronic problems. With offices in East Jerusalem, Ramallah and Gaza City, Mercy Corps implements programs throughout the Palestinian territories.
As part of its Palestinian Community Assistance Program, which is fully funded by USAID, Mercy Corps offers a program in economic development and workforce preparation. Within its focus on the ICT sector, Mercy Corps is working to provide young Gazans with advanced technical skills which lead to income and employment. In the coming year, Mercy Corps will offer 10 full-length ICT courses. Graduates may go on to business development activities, or internships for work and freelance experience.
However, Mercy Corps also recognizes a need for shorter, tightly targeted learning opportunities to enhance ICT programming and self-employment skills. Responding to specific requests, Mercy Corps will offer a total of 22 short courses for graduating students, freelance or recently employed ICT professionals. Some courses will be offered directly by content specialists.
This ToR seeks a training provider to prepare and deliver five technical courses during the autumn of 2012.
Objectives:
Short ICT courses aim to:
