UNICEF Palestine is looking for interested Palestinians to apply to the undermentioned position in its Jerusalem office.

Title:Research Officer

Job Level: NOA
Duty Station:Jerusalem, Palestine
Type of Contract: Fixed Term Duration:One year with possibility of extensions

Key responsibilities:

1-Database management for Monitoring and Reporting: Manage and maintain database to provide accurate, reliable and verified information of Children in Armed Conflict.
2-Data collection, analysis and reporting: Provide technical support to ensure that Child Protection and its partners and the Country Office have timely and accurate data on grave violations against children in Israel/occupied Palestinian territory, including trends and progress made, to draw accurate conclusions about the impact of the conflict on children.
3-Data-driven thematic research for advocacy: Provide technical support to ensure that child protection specific research projects are designed and carried out with quality process and products in line with priorities and strategy of the child protection section and the Country Office.
4-Capacity building of partners in terms of data collection and research:  Provide technical support to ensure that the monitoring and research capacities of Child Protection staff and its national partners - Government and civil society - are strengthened, enabling them to increasingly engage in and lead monitoring and research processes.
5-Communication and partnerships: Provide technical support to ensure that all of the above tasks are carried out and accomplished through effective communication and partnerships.

Qualifications of successful candidate:
Education: Advanced University degree in social sciences, human rights, child rights, advanced statistical research.  
Work Experience: Minimum of two years relevant professional work experience in programme development and implementation including monitoring and research activities.

Experience in humanitarian crisis response/development programme preferred.
Language Proficiency: Fluency in English. Arabic and Hebrew an asset.

Specific Technical Knowledge Required
-Knowledge of information management system;
-Professional technical knowledge/expertise in data collection;
-Professional technical knowledge/expertise in demography, statistics, and/or data manageme
-Research methodology, theories, standards and models, quantitative/qualitative/mixed methods, validity/reliability testing of data, data analysis and interpretation, and statistical inference methods
-Professional technical knowledge/expertise in data analysis and reporting
-Gender equality and diversity awareness
