Contract :10 months
Save the Children (SC), as a non-profit U.S based development organization, has been working in the Palestinian Territories since 1973. Since starting its operation in the West bank and Gaza Strip, SC has concentrated on enhancing Health, Educational, Psychosocial, Food Security, and Economic Opportunities in order to achieve its mission of creating lasting, positive change in the lives of children.
Save the Children’s ECHO funded Cash for Work project will be implemented from February 2009 until January 1010. The project’s goal is to improve access to short term resources to support and protect household livelihood security for families, especially children living in deep poverty. The objective of the project is to generate short term employment for the poorest households. The project is being implemented in the Gaza Strip and in Hebron Governorates. The Engineer and the Social Worker are part of the project team that works to ensure that the ECHO funded Emergency Employment Generation IV “Cash for Work Project” is implemented according to
plan. The Engineer and the Social Worker work under the supervision of the Project Coordinator to implement project activities. S/he works closely with the implementing project partners and with other members of the Save the Children project team.
Requirements
1. Bachelor degree with four years of experience in Civil Engineering ONLY. Two years of work experience should be in the NGOs sector.
2. Knowledge of national (Governmental and Non-Governmental) and international organizations in the area and have the capacity to develop strong coordination relationships with them.
3. Excellent knowledge of Hebron and Bethlehem towns and villages locations.
4. Experience in assessing communities needs through different types of assessments such as PRA. Also, the candidate should have skills in community mobilization.
5. Experience in implementing Job Creation projects or Cash for Work projects or Food for Work projects that serve unemployed workers or people living in deep poverty directly.
6. Strong monitoring and follow up skills mainly on the field level
7. Demonstrated report writing skills if needed.
8. Strong communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.
9. Good command of the English language (spoken and written)
10. Computer skills (all Microsoft Offices especially Excel )
11. Ability to travel between the West Bank and Ramallah if needed.
12. Ability to work in a team and under pressure.
13. Valid driving license and practical driving experience at least for 2 years.
14. Preferable from Hebron or Bethlehem governorate.
