Four Months REPLACEMENT - School Support Program Officer –
Position Ref.#: (Replacement/WB/2015)
The Program Officer is to ensure successful and fully coordinated and integrated implementation of co and extra curricula activities in School Support Program SSP. SSP is implemented in partnership with AMIDEAST and funded by USAID. To accomplish the scope of work the post holder expected to provide technical and administrative support which is focused regionally on a set of schools and technical across Center West bank and Jerusalem schools as needed.
This post holder works closely with peer officers in the program with extensive coordination responsibilities with teacher, counsellors, school administrators, ministry/directorate level staff, private sector representatives and other community and youth organization and stakeholders. This position is seconded to AMIDEAST and based in AMIDEAST offices. No budget holding responsibility is assigned for this post.
Main Responsibilities:
-Coordinate co and extra curricula activities ensuring integrated within the overall School Support plans. Serve as focal point behalf of the program for specific schools in specific region.
-Coordinating with staff and consultants to facilitate needs assessments;
-Coordinate with other officers in other regions for central trainings, progress review and best practices.
-Coordinate with the principles, counsellors, teachers and other stakeholders’ action plans in target schools.
-Coordinate for major events in schools, region or national level as per the design of intervention and assignments.
-Coordinate with private sector partners, LNGOs and other stakeholders for engagement with school and program activities.
-Coordination of field visits for senior staff, donors and other key stakeholders.
-Work with the team, schools, community and partners to conduct assessments, organization and facilitation of meetings/workshops, preparing reports and develop action plans. Assisting project manager with conceptual design of program and development of annual implementation plans and any follow on amendments and modifications.
-Develop and provide action plans as required by the supervisor and project needs for designated activities in the required time frames and format. (monthly, quarter and annual)
-Monitor progress versus approved plans in the co and extra curricula activities in target region/schools ensuring quality, timely and cost effective implementation.
-Conduct regular field visits and support the target schools and partners to monitor performance quality, evaluate progress, coordinate activities and resolve issues hinders progress, communicate in timely fashion with supervisors and partners.
-Working closely with procurement unit in SCI to support the successful procurement and delivery of needed materials and services to the co and extra curricula activities as per related policies and regulations;
-Collect data, document and report on major program activities, work closely with M&E team to ensure adequate reporting versus PMP and indicators.
Ready to work to respond to any natural disaster or emergency situation anywhere in OPT
Applications will be considered based on the following essential criteria:
-Bachelor’s degree, preferably in education, International development, , social sciences, , or a related field;
-At least 5 years of coordination/administrative experience in project implementation;
-Experience working in schools or educational settings with youth;
-Excellent training and facilitation skills, previous Training of Trainer skills is an asset
-Fluency in Arabic and English;
-Strong English writing skills;
-Preferred previous experience working on a USAID-funded project;
-A self-starter, able to take the lead on individual initiatives;
-Able to travel widely throughout the West Bank;
-Advanced proficiency in Word and Excel mandatory;
-Ability to manage multiple administrative tasks with ease; and
-Valid driver's license
-Ability to manage a complex and diverse workload and to work to tight deadlines.
-Willingness and ability to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of emergencies
-Understanding of Save the Children’s vision and mission and a commitment to its objectives.
