Security Officer
Sustainable Engineering Solutions (SES), a multi-disciplinary consulting company, is currently looking to recruit a highly qualified candidate for the role of Security Officer for the USAID West Bank and Gaza Architecture and Engineering Services program.
Location: Ramallah – Palestine
Responsibilities
- Actively assess the field situation on a daily basis to evaluate travel safety and ensure safe movement of staff across checkpoints during field visits in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and Gaza.
- Conduct comprehensive and continuous safety and security risk assessments to identify potential threats, hazards, and vulnerabilities that may increase the risk to project staff.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive security orientation and welcome package for all staff, familiarizing them with local security protocols and contacts. Develop and deliver training modules for drivers, guards, and operational teams.
- Act as the primary focal point in developing secure working arrangements during critical incidents such as humanitarian crises and security incidents.
- Report and recommend appropriate actions in case of security incidents.
- Maintain a database of contacts who are national country security authorities.
- Act as a subject matter expert on all emergency preparedness planning and incident responses.
- Ensure that all safety and security-related documentation (risk assessments, SOPs, incident reports, etc.) are filed appropriately and securely.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and update emergency and security plans and communication trees as necessary.
- Conduct security risk assessments for new venues, offices, annexes, and residences, evaluating physical, geographical, social, and structural features that may impact the overall safety and security of properties' facilities or locations. Provide recommendations for implementing risk-mitigating practices and features.
- Develop strategies to continuously improve and refine security management systems for effectiveness and efficiency, considering evolving project needs, team dynamics, and project mission.
- Ensure proper maintenance of all office equipment and supplies related to security.
- Handle any other related security issues that may arise, demonstrating flexibility and proactive problem-solving.
Minimum Requirements
- Prior experience supporting international donor-funded projects is required, with a preference for USAID experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of complex emergencies, related security concerns, and the ability to respond appropriately.
- Good knowledge of Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza strip, including roads and routes.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in Arabic and English. Proficiency in Hebrew is preferable.
- Demonstratedthe ability to develop and implement security plans, conduct risk assessments, and effectively manage emergency situations.
- Familiarity with the security landscape in the West Bank and Jerusalem is a must.
- Willingness to stay updated on the latest security protocols and best practices.

Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in social sciences, public relations/administration, or a related field.
Required Experiences
A minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience in Safety Management.
