Senior Civil Engineer

MA’AN is an independent nonprofit Palestinian organization established in Jerusalem in 1989 , working in community development and capacity building at the national level with branches in both the WB & Gaza Strip. MA’AN works in equal partnership with NGOs, CBOs, grassroots groups & committees in the poorest and most marginalized areas  to improve the quality of their lives and empower them to take a lead in developing their communities and achieving self-reliance and steadfastness based on freedom, participation, equity & equality, respect for human rights, democracy, and social justice.

Project Title: Emergency assistance to non-refugee households with minor damages to their home in the Gaza strip

The Anticipated Starting Date: 1st February 2016

Project Scope:
The aim of this project is to provide emergency minor repairs cash assistance to at least 240 non-refugee households whose homes have been damaged in order to protect vulnerable population and prevent further displacements in the Gaza Strip through household’s capacity building for self-repair, cash assistance for repair and contracting reparation. The priority is given to the most 240 acute vulnerable HH who, more than one year after the last Gaza war, did not have the capacity to overcome by themselves the repairs and are therefore deprived from safe and dignified housing conditions making them more vulnerable to harsh weather conditions.
Responsibilities:
-Supervise the technical activities including (beneficiaries’ selection, damage assessment, Bill of Quantities and pricing elaboration, elaboration of construction works technical specifications, reparation works in the field and installments validation)
-Provide guidance to the Field Monitors (civil engineers) who are responsible for following up the field works.
-Keep records of all project documents and preparing weekly and monthly reports on the project progress

Needed Qualifications:
-Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering with at least 5 year experience in construction management
-Experience in houses rehabilitation/renovation is an advantage
-Experience in working with CSOs is an advantage
