AMIDEAST seeks to hire a Senior Technical Advisor for the USAID and OSI funded Palestinian Faculty Development Program (PFDP). The Advisor will be responsible for providing technical advice and support for the Chief of Party, suggesting strategic directions for the program, and participating in decision making. The Advisor will also be responsible for managing the PFDP grants programs including Faculty Grants, Collaborative Projects in Teaching, and the US-Palestinian Grants Program.
The Senior Technical Advisor will provide significant outreach and liaison for PFDP within the higher education system and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and will represent the program in key public fora. The Senior Technical Advisor will foster a system-wide approach to improving teacher training and improvement in teaching and learning in the higher education system.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Provides vision and leadership for strategic planning in pursuit of PFDP goals;
-Provides advice and direction regarding implementation of PFDP plans and program modifications;
- Assists in organizing executive roundtables and preparing concept papers;
- Conducts outreach for the PFDP at senior levels of the higher education system, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and related agencies;
-Manages the conceptualization and promotion process for PFDP grants in collaboration with the Grants Committee and PFDP staff;
Qualifications
-PhD degree or an equivalent combination of credentials, knowledge, skills, and experience;
- 10 years minimum relevant work experience in the education or higher education sector, preferrably within the Palestinian education system;
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with prior management experience in a university or complex donor-funded project desirable;
- Demonstrated ability in strategy development, program planning and design;
- Understanding of the Palestinian educational context, the challenges to education system reform and imperatives for change, and change management;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in Arabic and English;
- Excellent ICT skills including the use of email, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software and use of the Internet.
This is a full-time position based in AMIDEAST’s Ramallah headquarters. Travel to all areas served by the PFDP program is required.
