VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The SRH Analyst will act as the team leader on sexual and reproductive health in UNFPA Palestine. S/he will provide substantive thought leadership and strategic guidance and oversight across the SRH portfolio funded under UNFPA regular and other resources, and will ensure synergy and linkages with all other relevant programmes and activities.
The Analyst will lead and manage the SRH team and programme under the direct supervision of the Assistant Representative, and ensure that the strategies produce optimal results in line with UNFPA’s Country Programme commitments, relevant bilateral agreements, and national health sector plans.
S/he will work in close collaboration with all the key stakeholders, in particular the Ministry of Health and implementing partners, to advance the sexual and reproductive health and rights agenda. The adviser will work under the direction and supervision of the UNFPA Assistant Representative and will directly supervise SRH team staff.

Duties and responsibilities:
Policy and technical Contributions:
-Advise on sexual and reproductive health and rights and provide SRHR advocacy support to leverage SRHR in the health agenda.
-Contribute to enhancing capacities to mobilize social and political support and financial resources for SRHR and support national and sub-national stakeholders for inclusion of SRHR in relevant policies and plans.
-In close cooperation with the Representative and Assistant Representative, develop and maintain collaborative relationships with relevant government authorities at national and sub-national level, civil society organizations, and with external development partners and assert UNFPA’s comparative advantage and a leadership role in facilitating effective coordination among the key partners.
-With support of the Representative and Assistant Representative participate on behalf of UNFPA in relevant technical working groups, professional meetings and in coordination mechanisms linked to sexual and reproductive health.
Programme management and oversight:
-Under the direction of the Assistant Representative, provide oversight and technical leadership to guide the design, planning, implementation and reporting of the SRHR interventions
-Provide timely technical support to SRHR projects, ensuring integration with other programmatic interventions across the country office and adherence to global quality standards and protocols, per national commitments.
-Maintain constructive dialogue and technical exchange with relevant partners to promote and provided coordinated support for SRHR in Palestine
-In collaboration with the M&E focal point and other relevant staff, review, analyze, and evaluate the effectiveness of SRHR interventions and recommend areas for further improvements as needed.
Knowledge Management:
-Support the conduct of research and analysis aimed at providing information and expanding the knowledge base to guide policy and programme interventions
-Contribute to the identification, analysis and synthesis of technical knowledge and evidenced-based information on SRHR
-Support the development of policy briefs, prepare analytical papers, presentations and other policy related documents as needed.
- With guidance contribute to analytical works through documenting lessons learned from implementation including effective strategies for reaching vulnerable groups.
The SRH Analyst maintains collaborative relationships with all programme and project staff at the CO. Internal contacts include the Assistant Representative, the Programme Specialist, the Programme Analyst, and the CO’s programme/ technical team. External contacts include other UN agencies in country and counterparts in Country programme activities.

Fluency in English and Arabic are required.

Required experience:
-Advanced degree in Health; Medical Doctor preferred.
-5 years professional experience managing health programmes, preferably in the area of sexual and reproductive health
-Previous experience with the UN is an asset;
-Strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
- Computer literacy - Word, Excel, Power-point, etc.;
-Good writing and communication skills.
-Demonstrated ability to work within a team
Knowledge and Skills:
-Knowledge of the Palestinian health system, as well as of the latest developments in the field of SRH including health systems strengthening, is preferable.
-Excellent analytical skills and ability to provide strategic technical leadership, handle complexities and engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders essential.
-Demonstrated leadership, management, and team working skills required.
-High degree of proficiency in both written and spoken English and Arabic required.
-Ability to elaborate reports, document and disseminate good practices essential.
