Site Engineer

Oxfam GB in the occupied Palestinian territories & Israel is working towards a just
& peaceful resolution to the devastating conflict that continues to deprive people
of their basic rights.
To improve the Gazan’s public health living conditions, Oxfam GB programme had
secured funds to carry restoring safe water and sanitation in Gaza (Khan Younis and
Rafah) through integrated public health components.
We welcome applications for one short-term consultancy position from
people who have the required experience and skills.

 

The site engineer will work closely with Gaza Public Health team to implement,
control and monitor all field level activities related to the project and implemented
through Coastal Municipalities Water Utility CMWU.
Start date: November 08th 2009 End Date: January 31st. 2010
Working Days: Saturday – Thursday Working Hours 8:00 am to 16:30 pm
Main Key responsibilities:
-To revise the BoQ and the technical specifications for the water and sanitation interventions ensuring they follow the Palestinian regulations.
-Ensure all the works are being implemented according the agreed action plan between CMWU and Oxfam GB.
-Report weekly, by writing, the achievements, concerns, incidents and alternative solutions concerning the implementation.
-Appropriate field supervision support to the contractor workers and engineers.
-Responsible for guiding and providing capacity building for CMWU field engineers and CMWU sub-contractors when needed
-Appropriate field supervision support to CMWU field engineers.
Main Skills And Competences
-Civil Engineer degree, or similar studies
-Previous proven experience (minimum 3 years) working in water and sanitation network construction.
-Good analysis capacity
-Good technical documents development capacity
-Communications skills
-Working effectively.
-Good knowledge in water and sanitation
-Computing skills
-Good organization, priorities identification and planning skills.
-Excellent spoken and written Arabic and good level of written and spoken English
