SOS Children’s Villages International (SOS CVI) is a dynamic social development organisation active in over 132 countries worldwide, working to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of orphaned and vulnerable children. It operates through a federation network of National Associations (NAs) across the globe, working in the areas of child development and emergency response.

SOS Children’s Villages Palestine is currently recruiting for its interim care centre in Gaza City. The interim care centre will serve as a temporary shelter for children who have either lost parental care or are at risk of losing this care.

Position:   Social worker (Case worker)
Location: Gaza City
Line manager: ERP Project Manager
Contract: One year fixed term

Position summary: The social worker ensures quality care for children within the centre, as well as their families during the stay of the children. They will be involved in the child admission process and when in the best intrest of the child, their  re-integration with their biological families.There will be regular follow up with the families and the children who have left the shelteThe role of the social worker is essential in securing support for children, their biological (extended) families and their SOS care givers.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
Tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Direct involmenet in the child admission and follow up process which includes individual case plans
-Conduct home and field visits for assessment
-Fill in primary assessment, registration forms, BIA (best interest assessment), referral forms, exit forms, medical registration forms, therapist forms, etc.
-Conduct case conferences regarding urgent cases
-Ensure that the families, are provided with necessary family assistance
-Prepare reports and data updates.
-Work in direct cooperation with the psychotherapist and educators

Qualifications and Experience:
University degree Social science or equivalent
Minimum 2 years of experience in social assessments
Effective communication skills; proficiency in written and spoken Arabic and English
Ability to work under pressure and effectively within a team/independently
Understanding of Health & Safety issues at work and on site
