Social Worker – oPt033/Emergency Project (Full Time)

HelpAge International is a global network of not-for-profit organisations with a vision of a world where older people fulfill their potential to lead active, dignified, healthy and secure lives.
HelpAge International started working in the Gaza Strip in February 2009 following the December 2008 – January 2009 conflict. It is providing a developmental capacity building of non-state actors in addition to a humanitarian response for older people including provision of food, psychosocial support, livelihoods support and physical rehabilitation.
HelpAge International will continue its care for old people through the project “Capacity building and awareness raising to improve the wellbeing of vulnerable older people in the Gaza Strip, phase 2, 2014-2015”, Emergency Response Action

HelpAge seeks for one experienced committed professional for a full time post of “Social Worker under oPt033 and emergency project”

Reporting to: oPt033 Project Officer
Main responsibilities of the position:
-To assist the team in the organization and implementation of Assessment for older people in Gaza Strip
-In cooperation with Project Officer, Support the preparation/monitoring of the detailed work plan and Frame work for the Need Assessment for Older People in Gaza Strip.
-Assist the compile the quantitative data with using the developed and approved questionnaire about the needs of older people in Gaza Strip
-Work with the partners to identify and select the CBOs and local committees in all localities of the project.
-A key in monitoring the project activities, which will be implemented through partners
-Follow the delivery chain and check the completion in the distribution centres
-Overseeing the day to day activities and working closely with the stakeholders of the project.
-Support the data entry officer/IT regarding the final data statistics and infographics that will shared with
-Submit a monthly report on progress, achievements, challenges and next steps, and final report after finish the task.
-Assist in any other task necessary and relevant to the operations of the Programmes unit

Duration of the contract: 8 months starting as of 01 November 2014 till 31 August 2015.
Main qualifications
-University degree in business administration or any other related field.
-Previous work experience in a relevant field preferably in the humanitarian assistance and emergency projects.
-Has experience in house hold visiting, preferably with older people
-Professional level in both Arabic & English language skills.
-Ability to set up action plan and develop follow up tools for field work.
-Proficiency in MS Office.
-Independent determined, motivated and High Commitment
-Excellent skills of communication, time management and conflict resolution.
-Ability to work under pressure and within a team.
-Has ability to move in all Gaza governorates (including buffer zone areas)
-Ability to start working immediately.

Desirable:
Knowledge and experience of aging and issues older people are facing
