Social Worker- Gaza Office
The Social Worker officer is pivotal in providing essential support and assistance to individuals, families, and communities facing diverse challenges. The officer evaluates needs, devises care plans, and facilitates connections to resources for enhancing overall well-being.
The main responsibilities can be summarized as:
- Conducting GBV cases visits to evaluate their needs
- Coordinating suitable care, resources, or benefits
- Collaborating with relatives, colleagues, and other professionals
- Drafting comprehensive reports
- Participating in or contributing to legal proceedings
Tasks and responsibilities:
Job Responsibility #1: Contribute to the project's activities implementation
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals' social, emotional, and economic needs through interviews, observations, and evaluations.
- Develop individualized care plans and goals in collaboration with individuals, focusing on strengths-based approaches and individual-centered interventions.
- Plan, coordinate, manage and implement support packages to help individuals deal with difficulties and overcome dependencies
- Conduct field visits on a regular basis whenever necessary and intervene with IDPs in the targeted areas to check on their needs.
- Interview service users and assess their current condition, needs, strengths and weaknesses
- Monitor and evaluate cases’ progress and modify their individual plans accordingly
- Offer information and counseling on the best course of action during sessions in collaboration with the PSS social worker
- Maintain accurate records and report on clients’ status
Job Responsibility #2: Services provision
- Provide ongoing case management and support to clients, monitoring progress, addressing barriers, and advocating for their rights and interests.
- Conduct and attend case conferences and provide evidence when needed
- Facilitate support groups, workshops, and educational sessions on topics such as mental health, parenting skills, conflict resolution, and coping strategies in collaboration with the PSS social worker.
- Refer individuals to specialized services, including mental health providers, substance abuse treatment centers, housing assistance programs, and legal services, as needed.
- Connect clients with community resources, social services, and government assistance programs to address their immediate and long-term needs.
- Empower individuals to advocate for themselves by providing information, guidance, and support in navigating systems and resolving conflicts.
Job Responsibility #3: Coordination and Collaboration
- Coordinate with partners and other parties working in protection system
- Contribute to referral pathway update
- Contribute to the services mapping in the targeted areas
- Contribute to the assessments, analysis and RGA which CARE's intended to conduct within the life cycle of the project

Job Profile Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Rights, International Development, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years experience in working in a similar position / similar experience.
- Proven experience working in the field of protection, with specific expertise in areas such as GBV prevention and response, child protection, human trafficking, or refugee protection.
- Strong understanding of international human rights standards, humanitarian principles, and legal frameworks related to protection issues.
- Experience in providing trauma-informed care, psychosocial support, and case management services to survivors of violence and exploitation.
- Familiarity with gender-sensitive and culturally appropriate approaches to protection programming, including mainstreaming gender and diversity considerations into interventions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in challenging and fast-paced environments, demonstrating flexibility, resilience, and cultural sensitivity.
- Commitment to upholding ethical standards, confidentiality, and the rights and dignity of all individuals, especially those facing protection concerns.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including clients, community members, government officials, and donors.
