MdM Switzerland, has been working in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) since 1994 in the sector of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), implementing emergency and development interventions, focusing on victim of occupation-related violence, children and detention, suicide prevention and management, strengthen of access to mental health cares at national and community level, and advocacy initiative.
YOUR MISSION
- To provide psychosocial support to vulnerable population according to MdM Switzerland’s procedures and the objectives of the different projects.
Specific objectives:
- Conduct and/or support the implementation of the activities related to the promotion of MH considered in the different projects.
- Ensure the proper use of MDM resources in Palestine.
- Ensure the respect of MDM procedures in Palestine.
Under the direct supervision of the Project area officer the Social Worker will contribute to the development of MdM-CH strategy in the country and will support the implementation, the quality and the consistence of the activities developed by MdM CH’s team and partners.
YOUR ACTIVITIES
- Programming, management & development
- Identify the children most at risk and perform an evaluation, both at the individual and household levels. Then, devise a tailored case management strategy according to their specific needs and objectives.
- Arrange consistent case follow-ups and maintain up-to-date documentation in accordance with guidelines, while coordinating with relevant stakeholders to align with individual needs outlined in the action plan.
- Engage with various community stakeholders and actively participate in pertinent coordination meetings within the settlement, as necessary, in collaboration with the project team.
- Provide Psychosocial support to individuals and groups in targeted locations according to the activities included in the different active projects and the standard procedures validated by MdM-CH.
- Ensure comprehensive documentation for each individual, including detailed records of services rendered and the progression of each case.
- Conduct community awareness sessions related to the promotion of the mental health and psychosocial well-being to partners, volunteers, and different groups of beneficiaries based on the individual needs and the activities included in the different active projects.
- Forge and sustain positive and effective relationships with targeted beneficiaries, and communities, as well as other stakeholders operating within the intervention areas
- Support the development and adaptation of specific didactic materials for technical topics and capacity building activities.
- Provide plans of interventions, ideas to approach areas and other out of box ideas to achieve the goals of the active projects.
- Support the Project Coordinator in the design of new projects.
- Conduct field visits to collect information from the field.
- Monitoring, reporting and evaluation
- Provide on-time periodic reports according to MdM-CH and donor’s templates.
- Collaborate in the preparation of the monthly plans.
- Conduct assessment activities when needed.
- Keep and improve the current data collection system according to MdM Switzerland and donor’s templates.
- Reporting
- Report about each activity conducted and field assessment.
- Report to the Project Officer on a monthly basis.
- Security
- Participation in the security meetings and respect of the security rules set up according to the context.

YOUR PROFIL
Academic and Working Experience:
- A degree in social worker, or relevant fields.
- 3+ years of experience covering similar positions.
- Experience with MdM is a plus.
- Hard-working, willing to learn new things, and having can-do-attitude.
- Detail-oriented, and well-organized.
- Honest, enthusiastic, and self-motivated.
- Pro-active and creative.
Other Requirements/Skills
- Ability to work under pressure in an unstable and changing environment.
- Leadership, communication, diplomatic and analytical skills.
- Reactivity, anticipation, adaptability, capacity to take initiatives.
- Good skills in organization, coordination and transfer of knowledge.
- Ability to work with different groups of beneficiaries (female, male, children, adolescents, adults and elderly).
- To behave with self-restraint at all times and respect the dignity of the beneficiaries.
- English proficiency.
- Ability to live and work in a difficult security context and willingness to accept security protocols.
- Confidentiality: observe absolute discretion on the documents, interviews, discussions and/or other info related to the intervention of MdM Switzerland in the country.
- Adapt to special situations or demands from supervisor.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft office.
- Driver license is an asset.
- Good skills in writing and provision of project ideas
CONDITIONS
The position is based in Gaza,
Contract type: fixed term contract
Contract Duration: 8 months renewable, with 3 months’ probation period
Working Hours: Standard office working hours from Sunday to Thursday.
