PFU is a non-profit organization established in 1993 which gathers around 7.500 members organized in 16 regional farmers associations disseminated all over the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
PFU as a professional Union aims at defending and promoting the legitimate vocational rights and the interests of Palestinian farmers.
As the olive oil sector is considered as the backbone of agricultural sector in Palestine by providing job opportunities and by representing a major source of income for tens of thousands of Palestinian rural households,
 
PFU has set up a Program of intervention in the olive oil sector whose objectives are:

1-To organize farmers and to strengthen olive producers’ professional organizations (especially within the cooperative format)
2-To upgrade, adapt and modernize the production of olive oil (in terms of quality, quantity/productivity and diversification)
3-To increase marketing opportunities
4-To encourage the creation and the implementation of regulations
In the frame of the “Support to olive oil producers in the West Bank Revitalization of olive oil sector” funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and cooperation (SDC), PFU intervention includes designing a software for olive oil cooperatives and the organization of their activities in related issues.

For this purpose PFU is looking for a software developer who will assist the olive oil staff.

Tasks and Responsibilities
-Develop together with technical team the structure of a tracking system adapted to olive oil production (from olive tree to storage tank)
-Analyze, create technical specifications and test plans for the software
-Design and write software tracking system using appropriate programming language (.Net technology)
-Develop existing system by analyzing and identifying areas for modification
-Test and maintain system by monitoring, identifying and correcting software defects
-Train PFU olive oil team in using and installing the software in cooperatives
-Provide PFU with the information necessary to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the production and project lifecycle


-According to needs recruit subcontractors for the software development and coordinate their work
Competences:
-Web Services, Agile methodology experience.
-ASP .NET and Web Applications
-Demonstrable experience of developing Windows based client/server or distributed software solutions to consistent quality standards
-Problem solving, task prioritization, communication, administration and
-organization skills are required, whilst working to tight deadlines and adhering to quality procedures
-Experience of software design and analysis techniques and tools
-Consistent and thorough, the desire to ‘go the extra mile’
