PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:-
Mercy Corps (MC) is a non-profit, non-aligned, secular non-governmental (NGO) humanitarian relief and development organization, registered in the United States and Scotland with offices in more than 40 countries around the world, including the West Bank and Gaza, where the organization has been active in implementing relief and development programs for nearly a decade. Mercy Corps ‘West Bank and Gaza’ has staff based in East Jerusalem and Gaza City offices that implement programs throughout the Palestinian territories.
To support Gaza 2020 Health Matters, Mercy Corps will procure an existing a Stock Management System available in the market and customize it to meet the requirements of the Gaza 2020 Health Matters. This system will support project objectives by building the capacity of the project partners (about 12-15 health NGOs) in order to enhance their preparedness and response to emergencies. From the other side, the system will support Gaza 2020: Health Matters project to get the required reports by tracking the supplies they granted to the project partners. During 2017, Stock management system will be customized and deployed to all project partners.
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:-
Software Tester under the supervision of System Analyst will perform the required tests on the above mentioned system. The tester will be engaged in the early stages of the software development process (i.e. once the SRS document is developed, software tester will be preparing the test scenarios and test cases). The candidate will work with MC’s system analyst and software developers as a team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:-
1. Develop the testing plan and strategy based on the scope of the system including use case diagrams, quality criteria and non-functional requirements included in SRS.
2. For each iteration of the software development process, software tester will:
- Derive test scenarios and test cases from SRS document to thoroughly test program logic and verify system flow.
- Define and implement quality assurance metrics for performance improvement.
- Execute and evaluate the derived test cases manually and automatically in order to verify software functionality and locate software defects, finding issues which the user may otherwise find later.
- Conduct functionality coverage, integration, regression, performance/load, security and usability testing, etc.
- Documents problems in an issue log and retests software corrections to ensure problems are resolved.
- Agree to hold all the accessed information as a part of this service confidential and deal with them with strict confidentiality, and not disclose or use such information outside the scope of contracted service with Mercy Corps or without prior written authorization from

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None
REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: System Analyst
WORKS DIRECTLY WITH: ICT Program Manager, ICT Program Coordinator, Other health project team, liaison with MEL, and MC staff in concern.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Holds a Bachelor degree in computer science or software engineering or related fields.
2. 2+ years of professional experience as software tester performing different testing types such as functionality coverage, integration, regression, performance/load, security, usability testing, etc.
3. Demonstrable knowledge of software testing automation tools for web based and mobile based applications.
4. Previous experience with developing or testing health information systems is a plus.
5. Analytical and logical mindset.
6. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
8. Excellent time and organizational management skills.
9. Planning and working flexibly to a deadline.
10. Excellent ability to work under pressure and carry out multiple tasks.
