Ahleia Insurance Group (AIG) is a leading insurance company in Palestine. We strive to lead in the Palestinian insurance market while contributing to the development of the Palestinian community. The Ahleia Insurance Group was first established in 1994 under the name Gaza Ahleia Insurance Company.

Position Title: Software / Web developer
(Code: LASTNAME / Software / Web dev)

Duties and responsibilities:

1-Generic Responsibilities:

-Problem-solving and thinking laterally as part of a team, or individually.
-Developing new software components according to requirements.
-Maintain components of the software (monitoring the system, testing, bug fixing).
-Extend existing programs by analyzing and identifying areas for modification.
-Investigating new technologies.
-Investigation third party software and code libraries.
-Working closely with other staff, such as IT manager, systems analyst, and the development team.
-Working to a deadline and budget.
-Proofreading to produce accurate and high-quality work.
-Consulting colleagues concerning the maintenance and performance of software systems.
-Constantly updating technical knowledge and skills by attending in-house and/or external courses, reading manuals and accessing new applications and new areas of development.

2-Web Developer Responsibilities:

-Develop user-friendly and visually appealing websites under the supervision of the IT Manager.
-Design and manage newsletters and other marketing materials like web ads.
-Test functionality of websites in various browsers for quality assurance.
-Communicate tasks status and deliverables with immediate supervisor and business development manager.
-Creation of site layout/user interface from provided design concepts by using standard HTML, CSS, …etc. Practices.

3-Support Responsibilities:

-Keeping abreast of emerging technologies in new media, particularly design programs.
-Help translate concepts and ideas into viable design concepts.
-Assist in gathering requirements and project specifications.
-Working as part of a team.
-Other tasks as needed for successful IT department continuity.

Required skills and knowledge:

-Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science or related fields.
-2 years professional IT experience working in a high demand, service-oriented environment.
-Solid front end skills and well-versed in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
-Excellent experience working on websites – entire lifecycleAbility to write procedures, Passionate about development as a whole and willing to make use of other languages/technologies where necessary
-Ability to research emerging technologies and identify possible applications
-Make a point of being aware of, and implementing, Web Standards and good coding practices, as well as user-oriented design
-Ability to learn quickly.
-Ability to solve problems / high pressure issues.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience with PHP5
-Experience with MySQL database design and development
-Flash
-Action Script 2/3
-Flex
-Classic ASP / VB Script / ASP.Net, C / C++ / C#, Java, Python or Ruby
-Fluent in English
