Support Logistician

 

Position:   Support Logistician for its Emergency Preparedness Project  in the Gaza Strip

Responsibilities and functions:

Attached the Emergency Preparedness Program (EPP), the Support logistician will be expected to maintain an overview of the logistics needs of the EPP and take responsibility for ensuring quality in logistics support across the programme. He/she will be required to ensure management of all logistic aspects of the programme implementation and ensure adherence to MDM Spain logistic procedures as well as develop innovative program solutions where applicable.

He/she will be expected to develop strategies and operational plans to meet program’s objectives, support managers and proactively be involved in facilitating implementation of innovations that ensure effective logistics and properties management.

Representation, communication and positioning
-To represent MdM Spain to all effects during his/her duty hours as part of the organization’s staff.
-As agreed with EPP Project Coordinator/ Logistician to ensure active co-ordination with the MOH staff concerned, especially at the hospital level for planning, regular updating and following-up of activities’ implementation.

Logistics Management
-To manage, implement and monitor all activities linked to the Logistics Management of the Emergency Preparedness Programme implementation, in compliance with MDM Spain procedures and donor’s guidelines.
- To plan, supervise and follow-up all logistics stages of the rehabilitation (minor changes) of a hospital Emergency Department to achieve the objectives defined within the deadlines fixed, in compliance with MDM Spain procedures and donor’s guidelines and in close coordination with the MOH. This includes following in the field the works.
-To identify needs and plan solutions for providing communication equipment to strengthen coordination at health facilities level according to objectives of the program. Then to implement purchase procedures accordingly.
-To support the EPP Logistician in planning and implementing the simulations planned in the program to test the emergency preparedness, by ensuring all logistics requirements are organized.
-To implement any other task that might be required by the program following EPP Project Coordinator or EPP Logistician’s request.


Procedures and documentation

-To ensure that any office substantial documentation are kept updated, with copies at Jerusalem Co-ordination Office.
-To liaise with MDM Spain administrative staff for ensuring application of MdM administrative guidelines.

He/She will ensure the intervention’s coherence with MDM Spain policies, mission, ethical principles and values.

Qualifications and skills:

-Required a minimum of 3 years of working experience in NGO Logistics sector.
-University Diploma in a relevant field
-Experience in rehabilitation and knowledge of communication systems required
-Excellent Arabic and English written and spoken
-Good computer skills
-Excellent communication skills, empathy, patience and diplomacy skills.
-Strong organizational, coordination and planning skills.
-Team player
-Proactivity, creativity and problem-solving oriented required.

This position is for 2,5 months starting in November 2011.
