Teachers Education Consultant

AMIDEAST, an international non-profit organization in the West Bank and Gaza.  AMIDEAST’s Model Schools Network Program is seeking a consultant to provide a comprehensive review of all activities and developments pertaining to the Teacher Education Strategy (TES).

Consultant Responsibilities: 
The consultant is asked to provide a report in English and Arabic of all ongoing activities, projects, institutions and initiatives that directly or indirectly relate to the various components of the TES.  The estimated amount of time to complete this scope of work is 15 days. 
This scope of work will extend to interviewing senior Ministry staff in order to ascertain their understanding and awareness of the TES. The consultant will also interview key actors in the university sector and major donors.  The information gathered should also include the non-governmental sector, and reference major projects like the MSN Program.  The aim of this scope of work is to tie all these initiatives together going back to March 2008 (the launch of the TES) and up to the present, in order to paint a comprehensive picture of developments relating to the TES.  Furthermore, the consultant should provide a gap analysis of where there is a discreet lack of focus or attention vis a vis the TES goals and components.

AMIDEAST seeks a senior level consultant capable of starting immediately and with prior experience in this type of work.  The individual must be fluent in Arabic and have excellent written English. The consultant must also be familiar with the Palestinian education system, as well as knowledge of key decision makers and relevant external institutions.  The consultant cannot be on the Palestinian Authority payroll.  Prior experience and credentials in the education sector are preferred.  Immediately availability is important.
