Position Title: Technical Supervisor

Working Location: Gaza

Status: Full Time

Contract Type: Limited Contract

Mission of the position:

We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Technical supervisor to provide specialized guidance and support in developing and implementing programs aimed at supporting unaccompanied and separated children (UASC) and their caregivers. The Technical supervisor will collaborate with partners, caregivers, local authorities, and stakeholders to ensure the safety, wellbeing, and long-term outcomes for these vulnerable children and families.

 

Key performance areas and main responsibilities:

  • Support the project team on developing the individual plans and provide technical guidance on the design, development, and implementation of it.
  • Support the project team in identifying MHPSS practices that are best respond to children’s needs, train and supervise the team on the best practice of it.
  • Support the teams in setting up mechanisms to collect information related to the MHPSS practices to analyze
  • monitor and ensure that the best child protection practices are being followed during identification, case management, and reintegration processes by the project team
  • Provide technical training and child protection to the project team: staff caregivers, and partners in the field of MHPSS and child protection issues related to UASC
  • Conduct individual and group supervision sessions with the project team on a regular basis and when needed.
  • Facilitate workshops and capacity-building initiatives to strengthen the project team.
  • lead the development of any needed tools, protocols, and guidelines related to the work with the UASC within the project.
  • Monitor program activities and progress, providing technical recommendations to improve service delivery.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting on project outcomes, identifying challenges and suggesting corrective actions.
  • Collect and analyze data to assess the effectiveness of interventions and to inform program adjustments.
  • Promote a child-centered approach in all program activities, ensuring children’s voices are heard and incorporated into care decisions where possible.
  • Advocate for the participation and rights of children in accordance with international human rights standards.
  • Provide technical expertise in rapid response situations involving UASC, including during natural disasters or conflict settings, to ensure the protection and immediate care of affected children.
  • Support preparedness activities to ensure the systems and capacity are in place for a timely and effective response in case of emergency.

Child Safeguarding (CS)

• Responsible within own area of work to raise awareness of the SOS Child Protection Policy principles and to prevent and protect children from all forms of abuse, abandonment, exploitation, violence and discrimination

• Responsible to report any CS suspicion, concern, allegation or incident immediately, following Child Safeguarding reporting procedures. CS reports should be made to the IOR CS focal person and/or to the respective line manager

Key skills and qualifications for the position:

 Must Criteria

  • Master’s degree in social psychology, Child Protection, or a related field.
  • Minimum [3] years of experience working in child protection, preferably in humanitarian or emergency settings.
  • Experience working with caregivers, community-based child protection systems, and other stakeholders.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proven ability to design and implement training and capacity-building initiatives.
  • Ability to work in challenging and sensitive environments, with a focus on children’s rights, trauma-informed care, and safeguarding.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience managing multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Good command of English, written and spoken
  • Team work and flexible.
  • Excellent Communication Skills.

Preferred Aditional Criteria:

  • Certification in child protection or related field (e.g., CP, PSS, case management training).
  • Knowledge of local child protection laws and international best practices.
