Announcement,Three RFPs for–
Work Experience Skills Workshops, Gaza Strip
Background: Mercy Corps is a nonprofit international relief and development organization, serving more than 19 million people in 36 countries. Mercy Corps has had a presence in Gaza and the West Bank since the 1980s, helping Palestinians to meet their immediate survival needs, and to find durable solutions to chronic problems. With offices in Ramallah, East Jerusalem and Gaza City; Mercy Corps implements programs throughout the Palestinian Territories.
As part of its PCAP program, funded by USAID, Mercy Corps is implementing a program of Economic Development and Workforce Preparation. PCAP works in several economic sectors which are experiencing growth, including ICT, construction, and plastics manufacturing and recycling. Additionally, recognizing the importance of youth employment, PCAP works to help young people prepare for employment and self-employment.
PCAP will offer approximately 650 Work Experience opportunities during 2013, including vocational job placements in the Construction trades, and internships for recent graduates in ICT and several other fields. These opportunities aim to give young people practical workplace experience, and to show employers what one motivated young person can add to their company.
PCAP seeks a local training provider (individuals or firms) to deliver a series of workshops which give those young Gazans the best opportunity to learn from their work experience, and translate their experience into future income.
The RFP “Skills Workshops for Work Experience” seeks a Provider to deliver 17 workshops to recent graduates, before and during their Work Experience activities.
The RFP “Skills Workshops, Post-Graduates” seeks a Provider to deliver 12 workshops to recent graduates with more senior degrees, before and during their Work Experience activities.
