The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees invites applications from
qualified candidates for the post of:
Translator/Interpreter
1-Vacancy No. : 13-AR-JR-36
2-Duty Station : Jerusalem
3-Department : Legal Affairs
4-Grade : 17
5-Basic Salary : $1,507.70+ Other benefits include monthly Provident Fund contribution (15%
of basic salary paid by the Agency), compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and dependency allowance (if applicable).
6-Allowances : Senior Professional Officer Allowance of 25% from the basic salary.
7-Qualifications:
-Advanced university degree in English or related field from an accredited educational institution.
-Relevant qualifications in translation and interpretation.
-Seven years of experience in translation and interpretation work from Arabic into English and vice-versa.
-Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic.
Competencies:
-Demonstrated writing and communication skills.
-Ability to work independently or in a team.
-Ability to deliver quality service under tight deadlines in a stressful working environment.
-Ability to exercise a high degree of professional discretion.
-Well-developed organizational and political awareness.
-Ability to use computer with proficiency in word processing in English and Arabic.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
-Dedication to the aims and policies of the Agency and the United Nations.
-Familiarity with legal terminology, especially labour and employment law matters.
-Knowledge of Middle East contemporary affairs.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
-The incumbent may be required to travel in the Agency's area of operations in the Middle East.
-The incumbent may be expected to work beyond regular working hours.
